    DRIVING

If I’ve been city driving, fill up, then jump on the highway my range keeps getting bigger as my average mpg goes up till I level off at my highway average. Otherwise I’d be able to drive forever. Lol.

    DRIVING

Just a guess, but usually miles are calculated by number of gallons x average mileage. Is it possible that you are at a slightly different average mileage at each station rather than being related to brand? If one is closer the highway and you fill up when you get off, the average mileage would be higher than after even a little bit of stop and go driving. That’s what happens with my truck at least. Just a thought.

Evaluating the validity of sources and discarding invalid sources is a key component of research. That’s why science uses peer review - to ensure that proper methods were used in the research process. Reviewing incorrect or misleading source information isn’t research - it actually makes the reader vulnerable to incorporating the falsehoods into their knowledge base EVEN IF THEY INITIALLY RECOGNIZE IT AS FALSE. This is how propaganda works - the lie is repeated often enough that the listener eventually says “oh yeah, I’ve heard that” dropping the “but I knew it was wrong” part. There’s actually a TON of research that’s been done on this aspect of human memory. So, based on my research, disregarding bogus sources IS thinking for oneself.

Ok, there are dozens of similar ratings. How about this from conservative publication The Dispatch https://thedispatch.com/p/the-lawsuit-against-gateway-pundit

Confirmation bias is indeed one of our most basic biases. Add to it the Dunning-Kruger effect, a cognitive bias whereby people with limited knowledge or competence in a given intellectual or social domain greatly overestimate their own knowledge or competence in that domain relative to objective criteria or to the performance of their peers or of people in general. In a nutshell, those with less expertise are actually less receptive to new information on a topic than those with significant expertise. The combination leads to lots of people, sure that they are correct, talking past each other.

Very sorry to hear that you are ill - you’ve been around here a long time. Of course people told you it was fake, it has been a talking point since the beginning. By comparing it to a cold, the flu or the sniffles, people attempted to minimize the illness for political gain or to make money through the outrage industry. Vaccination also became political or monetized by the outrage industry. The reality is that the vaccinated are less likely to contract the disease, and 15x less likely to develop severe symptoms if they do become infected. The odds of death or long term effects from the vaccine are infinitesimal compared to the effects of severe covid. It’s all about the odds, not absolutes. But that ship has sailed. The good news is that the death rate is approximately 1%, and about 5% of survivors show long term effects. That also leaves a large percentage with no long term effects. Their disease is what you are experiencing - an ass whupping but survivable illness, or sometimes even less. With a disease that spreads this easily, that means large numbers of people affected. Hopefully, you will be in the group with no long term effects. Problem is, none of us knows which way we will be affected. There are treatments emerging that are effective, but they are not the ones often touted as “alternatives”. Ivermectin, for example, is an effective agent for some issues e.g.it particularly effective against internal and external parasites - a wonder drug. It is not recognized as an antiviral agent and is thus ineffective agains covid. People get better, but it is the passing of time, not the drug. To use an analogy, aspirin is a great drug too, but does nothing to cure covid. The good news, again, is that in reasonable doses it does no real harm. Ride it out, stay hydrated and get lots of rest and hopefully all will be ok with time. If you develop trouble breathing though, don’t screw around. Get to a doctor. And thanks for thinking about how this could affect others. Empathy for others seems to be in short supply these days. Get well soon.

Sorry but you don’t deal in facts. You make up a reality and then scour the internet for a conspiracy site that supports your delusions. You’ll always find one. A firehose of bullshit - and an angry one at that. Bathe in your rage - it’s all you’ve got. Sad

Delusions - definition. You sure do get nasty when the delusional system is threatened. Back to your safe space.

Ok, try these. A firehose of misinformation/disinformation/conspiracy theories. Assessing sources is not a long suit https://www.reuters.com/business/media-telecom/facebooks-struggle-with-gateway-pundit-highlights-challenge-containing-2021-12-03/ https://www.stltoday.com/opinion/editorial/editorial-fake-news-peddlers-like-the-gateway-pundit-can-wreak-havoc-in-the-real-world/article_8a8c2f26-491a-57e4-a24c-4db5eb370907.html https://www.politifact.com/personalities/gateway-pundit/ https://thedispatch.com/p/the-lawsuit-against-gateway-pundit

Perfect https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Gateway_Pundit Don’t believe everything you think. Meds may help https://youtu.be/Rw0PdXYf4Yo Now back to your safe space in conspiracy land. You are incapable of assessing sources, except as to whether they fit your delusions.

It’s the firehose of bullshit, combined with righteous indignation when the rest of the world doesn’t buy it, that Is astonishing to me. There’s no pandemic, the vaccine isn’t a vaccine, hospitals aren’t stretched, it’s all to control you… on and on. I’m sure there are others on this board who know people who have died or experienced debilitating effects of the pandemic. I certainly do. Try this - imagine the words from his posts in this guy’s voice. https://youtu.be/DXwx1sDNygY Meds.

Thank god. I thought I was the only one who thought this. Having one’s paranoid delusions challenged is very anxiety provoking. You can see it in the posts, when confronted with a reality based situation they get more and more urgent. Needs a return to the safe space of online conspiracy websites - it’s obvious that he spends much of his time on them (google the sites for his “expert” links).. Enjoying the salve of neurochemicals released in the rush of anger. Not stupid, crazy. Used to be single players shouting at people with a sandwich board - now they have a union. Meds work wonders but won’t be considered. How sad.

We’ve been through this. You can always find an outlier with letters after his name to support almost any fringe theory you want. You are especially talented at it. It is not science, it is you tube. Bye now

    Oh how "Christian" of Lourdes

You have funny rules. Lol is disqualifying, but links to fringe websites and proclamations that a global pandemic is designed to discredit a former political leader are the ticket to being taken seriously. I’m internetting wrong I guess.

    Oh how "Christian" of Lourdes

Logic without a premise in fact is without value. You start with an incorrect assumption - that the global pandemic is not real. It is untrue. To accept it would be to accept that you are right and the world is wrong (and they are doing it just to get at Trump, but I don’t even need to add that fallacy). Sorry, no. Any logic built from there is without value. And please don’t talk about health outcomes when denying that the pandemic is real. Even the logic portion of your routine is falling down. I think we would agree that this is a challenging time in America, but not for the reason you think it is.
