Guest Guest
Teachers definitely deserve snow days off. They deserve to get salaries that are well above the average for the area they live in. They deserve more comprehensive health care coverage than private sector workers, and they deserve to contribute almost nothing towards the cost. They also deserve much better retirement packages. Most important, they deserve to work in an environment where below average or even poor performance is not a problem. It's only fair. After all, they already work almost 60% as many hours as a typical office or factory worker and 50% as much as a typical manager in the corporate world. And don't forget, Education is the easiest major in college and huge studies showed that major attracts the students with the lowest average SAT scores and high school grades. I have to agree that they deserve the time off,pay and huge benefits. Not for the reasons that you stated though. You must be new to BCvoice if you haven't heard what teachers really do for their students. I've been reading about teachers for quite a few years right here on this board. To start with they teach some of the worst kids you ever heard of and they do it without complaint. Not only do they teach them basic and advanced school work but they feed them give them gifts and buy all their school supplies and sometimes the clothes they wear. They usually do this all out of their own pocket. When they aren't teaching or talking to the students parents they are marking papers and researching better ways to teach into the late hours at home. It's a mistake thinking that teachers get a vacation too. On their days off they do the exact same thing they do every day and weekend, research better methods, go college and make lesson plans for the next year. So as you can tell they deserve everything that they get and more.

The Davy G
Ah. With a good 70-80 degree spring day, you'd think this thread would cool off today. But apparenty not. Especially with the folks at UE in school today. Ha ha ha.
Guest Guest
How is the Teachers union going to cope with "flood-daze". Do you think they will be opportunistic and jack the school budgets? Never let a crisis go to waist.

Look kids...a teacher calling people names, being a bully and has no intelligent argument because her and her unions actions are indefensible. Look kids...a teacher calling people names and being a union bully . Remember the teachers unions do not represent or care about children in any way, shape or form. They are greedy, selfish and steal money from your Mom and Dad. In Broome County they spend a half a billion dollars in 180 days. Do you parents raise your allowance each and every time you ask?
