You people are pathetic. Honestly, year after year, just as late winter/early spring arrives, the same unruly bunch of you start haunting this thread and others taking cheap shots at public education, and judging from your misinformation and terrible spelling, it's clear you don't have a CLUE what you're talking about. You're all about: "Get rid of this, get rid of that, cut this, cut that, fire that person, fire this person..." blah blah blah. The only reason you do it is because this is the ONLY PUBLIC BUDGET you get to vote on, period. If you HAD a clue, you'd know that school districts need PEOPLE. PEOPLE need to be paid for the work they do FOR THE STUDENTS. PAYING PEOPLE costs money. You don't like that property taxes fund education? WHY NOT WORK TO CHANGE THE SYSTEM AND FIND SOME OTHER WAY TO PAY FOR SCHOOLS????? And how 'bout we hold EVERYONE accountable for academic success - not just schools? Until every parent and every student upholds THEIR end of the education bargain, you people are going to aim all your venom at the schools, as though THEY created the economic mess we're in. It wasn't the Wall St. bailout, or government take-over of the banks and auto industry, or the corruption in the halls of Washington and the state's capitols, it was the SCHOOLS! When times were good, everyone went to the polls and said YES to schools and allowed them to build up into the successful institutions they became. Then comes the flood, and the economic melt-down WHICH SCHOOLS DIDN'T CAUSE, and now everyone hates schools. Fine. Shut them all down - every last one of them. Fire every single school worker. Then you'll have to find something else to bitch about.

The system for years wasn’t one where your vote for a school budget mattered. Basically you got to vote on if they got new buses or built a new building etc..You never got a say in contracts or raises or even the benefits that you paid. The teachers union owned the state politicians it seemed and they did what the union wished.Even if you voted down the budget the teachers still got what they wanted even if a few lost their jobs through their stubbornness. When you did vote down a budget the district still got a raise and the only ones that lost were the students. Now the rules have changed and they are not in the unions favor anymore. With the state being more tight with the purse strings and the 2% max on tax levy most budgets won’t have any left over money for large raises and even the benefits might be a problem.Allowing the union what they have wanted in the past has given the state the highest cost schooling in the nation and probably the world. For the last 10 years I have been complaining about these problems and how the state has made the districts and teachers unaccountable and this year it comes to an end. Teachers and their supervisors are now going to be made accountable for how well they do their job. If the public votes down a budget no added percentage is going to be added to your tax bill, school boards will be able to negotiate fair salary plans because the money for unfair ones will not be available. After a few years benefits will be brought back to a reasonable amount.

Education is supposed to be the responsibility of parents and churches. Government shouldn't have anything to do with it.

Get the government out of education and all these problems will be instantly solved.

NO KID IN ENDICOTT WALKS TWO MILES A DAY. THEIR MOTHERS WOULD DRIVE THEM TO A BUS STOP. AS IT IS, RIDING A SCHOOL BUS IS A CLASS STRUGGLE AMONGST PARENTS WHO THINK THEY'RE UPPER STRATA OF SOCIETY . IT'S ABOUT TIME FOR FRESH AIR AND EXERCISE. HAS ANYBODY READ THE PAPERS LATELY AND NOTICED THAT WITHIN TWO BLOCKS OF THE ENDICOTT POLICE STATION THE MOST CRIME HAPPENS IN ENDICOTT AND THE POLICE STATION IS RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET FORM THE HIGH SCHOOL AND SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION OFFICES. SO WHAT IF YOUR KID IS AN HONOR STUDENT THE "C" LEVEL STUDENTS ARE JACKING YOUR CAR AND SELLING YOU DRUGS FOR YOUR HYPER-TENSION. SO MUCH FOR THE SCHOOL DISTRICT AND THEIR CUTS ON OBVIOUS MEASURES INSTEAD OF CUTTING ADMINISTRATIVE JOBS THAT ARE BARELY JUSTIFYABLE SELL THE BUSES.

Your relentless stupidity is quite amusing.

Real Americans want the government to get out of their lives. They don't want to be taxed so the government can provide so-called "services" to them. The tax and spend socialists have had their chance. They failed. Get the government out of education, and out of our lives. We can educate our children ourselves, through our churches, a million times better than the government ever could.

We demand a return to freedom and liberty.

That is one hell of a list you’ve got there. I like how it says that you’ll give up all the things that you have already paid for with out any return mentioned. All these things would of happened in any case but you would be expected to pay for them. If you didn’t have the money and were not able to do it yourself your offspring wouldn’t get educated. Remember it wasn’t all that long ago that social security wasn’t around and when it did come into being you didn’t get it if you didn’t pay into it. Same with Medicare.Sure things would be slightly different and if you didn’t have the money you wouldn’t have most or all of them. I think I’d like that.

If you don't want you children to walk, perhaps moving to a different district is the best way to solve your problem.

I can remember when UE was a shool system to be proud that you attended.

Today UE has been flushed down the toilet like Binghamton and a few other districts in the area.

I vote no on every budget because the administraters make more for every dollar the taxes go up and there's no hope for the district.

Also blame your police department and Village Mayor and Trustees.

The crime in Endicott is out of control. Try walking by yourself down Washington Ave. at 8:00 or 9:00pm, you either get mugged, harressed or someone is trying to selling you drugs.
