Ignorant statement from an ignorant person. Do you realize that FIVE DIFFERENT STAC teams have won a state title or at least made it to the state final? How many conferences across the STATE can say that?

Who?

Vestal

Owego

SCC

SV was more than 10 years ago when they made it to the final, Oneonta wasn't in the STAC when they won.

From what I can count at least 15 or more leagues can say that, hell one league in Sec 7 has 5 state titles and 3 other final appearances in the last 10 years in just 1 class D team. LI has one conference in a league that has 8 state titles or finalists in that time frame in just AA, A or B in the past 5 years, not 10. STAC and Section 4 soccer are known state wide as very weak talent wise regardless of what you may think.

You want to see a good league take a trip to Albany and watch the Suburban Council teams -Shenendahowa, Niskayuna, Bethlehem, Guilderland, Burnt Hills, Shaker, Saratoga, Colonie or head to Rochester and watch the Moroe League- Webster Schroder, Gates-Chili, Penfield, Pittsford Sutherland, Greece, Hilton, Spencerport, Fairport all long time top state teams. Those leagues would year in and year out make STAC look foolish

Thanks for the reality check but my point was that the STAC schools sit around and jack each other off like EFA and SV are great then in the same breath put other teams down like Binghamton, Norwich, and Windsor. When someone shines the obvious light on them they cry "don't put us down, build us up". It is called being a HS tool. Meanwhile only Vestal, Owego, and SCC can say anything about what it means to win the big one.

Stop putting anyone down period or the truth will continue to rain.

Yikes....9-1? Binghamton Soccer, a useless drain on tax payers.

Case in point.

No need for this trash. You don't know what having a Soccer team at Binghamton has done for their kids so go pound yourself tool.

No team or program has a right to say this.

SV never made a State Final or Final Four closest they came was in 2003 with a loss in the Quarter Finals. The other two times they lost first round of intersectionals. When did Seton make a run to States recently, unless you are counting the girls side too. If so Oneonta does belong there they made a run in girls a few years back but that still leaves only 4.

Maine-Endwell boys made the STATE FINAL in Class "A" boys soccer last season.

I agree how about more positive things on the postings instead of bashing. It shows how many kids are on here trying to fire up other teams and talk trash. I enjoy going to the games and see teams play. It is about the sport and the effort the kids put into it. Even the schools that struggle each year do not take the field with the intention of losing. Enjoy the sport as most of these kids will not play past high school in college, but will have many memories to look back on and enjoy.

Only three undefeated STAC teams left:

Sus Valley (2-0)

Elmira (3-0)

Oneonta (2-0)

by far the most impressive has been Elmira who has knocked off both vestal and ithaca on the road

SV made the second round of states in 2000, not 2003. They won section 4 at least one other time (possibly twice) but did not advance past the first round. Tat said they have played in ~10 Section IV championship games and ~5 STAC Championship games (1 Title). They have won their division in STAC 12 out of the last 15 years (for what that's worth) ... This year's team may be their best chance ever for a NY State title run.

U-E - 3

Horseheads - 1

Elmira - 3

Ithaca - 2

Props to UE if the game was in HH, regardless of how good Horseheads is or isn't, one of the toughest/worst places to play, 3 goals up there is semi respectable, even if John-Jay spanked them in a scrimage.

Elmira doing well is refreshing to see, this was predicted a lot last year, and in the second half of the AA quaters against a stronger UE team they played very well. Elmira looks like they finally molded and it'd be nice to see them do well and maybe make up for they're state playoff heart break 2 years ago.

Looks like Emira is for real. even though they played binghamton the top striker Alex scored 6. Sv wins with socring from other with players around Rood and are still indefeated. Could be a good run if SV does notdepend on just Rood. Oneonta still undefeated pounce a weak CV team 11-0. C. Forks defeats Windsor a little surprise, but could be seen as expected. JC over Seton expected result. Vestal over Ithaca expected result.

Leaves

SV

Oneonta

Elmira

all undefeated and Vestal leading the Metro division.

if this stays the course what would be the matchup for stac> ??

Would depend on the SV/Oneonta result to decide top seed in that half. Top Seed West/Metro vs Second Seed East/Central and Second Seed West/Metro vs Top Seed East/Central. Vestal looks far more beatable than Elmira at this point so getting that match could mean a finals berth for a small school team.

Metro/West #1 vs East/Central #2

East/Central #2 vs. Merto/West #1

At this point, you're probably looking at Elmira vs. Sus. Valley and Vestal vs. Oneonta. Someone in a previous post before the season mentioned that they thought Elmira and Vestal would meet in the final with Vestal getting the win. That looks like a pretty good prediction.

Please don't try to make SV out to be something they are not, a good program yes but 12 out of 15 no..look at stacshowcase.com They have lost the Central Division anytime they are in it 20011 JC-2010 JC-2005 Owego-2004 M-E- 2003 Owego. Yes they ran the East from 1997-2002 and won the league in 99, a great accomplishment becoming just the third small school to do it. They won the East from 2006-9 again but that division is easily the weakest in the league. Thats 10 division titles in 15 years not 12. Not to mention they only made 2 title games one win vs Ithaca in 1999, one loss to EFA in 2008.

Same for the Section 4 title game claims- they won titles in 97, 98 and 2000 great run of success..since that time they have lost the title game in 04,05,07,08 and 11. Thats 8 title games not 10, not sure where the 2003 thing came from Owego won that year.

SV is a great program with a good history no need to try and over-exaggerate to make them any more.

Which basically means nothing, his stats for the whole year will mean less when you pad stats with things like this

I was at the game. The Elmira coach took him out with 25 minutes to play in the game and the score was only 3-0 at halftime. He scored the first 6 goals of the match and then sat the rest of the game. There was no stat padding involved at all. He had 6 goals going into this game vs. Vestal, Ithaca, and Horseheads. Those are all quality programs.

Then you must have been sleeping. This was about padding stats. Below is the article from the Elmira soccer web site

Elmira 8, Binghamton 1: Alex Varkatzas scored six goals for Elmira in a rout of Southern Tier Athletic Conference foe Binghamton.

Varkatzas has 12 goals in four games for the Express (4-0), which has already surpassed last season’s win total of three. Dustin Collins and Kyle Johnson each added a goal and an assist.

Elmira Scoring - Varkatzas (6-0), K. Johnson (1-1), Collins (1-1), Grant (0-2), Berglund (0-2), Prunoske (0-1)

Binghamton Scoring - Ahmetovic (1-0)

Shots/Corners - Elmira (16-5), Binghamton (3-3)

Saves - Elmira (Berglund - 2), Binghamton (Midyette - 8)

So your up by 3,4,5 goals and have 18 players on the roster and he stays in...not padding... Very good player don't get me wrong, but your playing Bingo.. Coaches decision so it is what it is.... I would expect that ELmira may run the schedule this year undefeated and will possibly win STAC and make a solid run for states.
