SUTHERLAND SPRINGS, Texas – The FBI is responding to the scene of a reported shooting in Sutherland Springs, Texas, according to Michelle Lee, spokeswoman for the FBI's San Antonio field office.

Local police also have responded to the scene, which occurred at the First Baptist Church, a witness told CNN.

The witness, a cashier at a gas station across the street from the church, said she heard about 20 shots being fired in quick succession while a church service was underway.

Authorities have confirmed that the shooter is dead. There is no word on how many people were injured.

Seriously, you are a disgusting pile of shit. 27 people dead and all we get from you is deep state conspiracy theories and craziness. Take your fucking meds and then take a nap, there's something wrong with you, and something wrong with the mods for condoning your shit. I hope you find some good therapy.

"Shooting motive unknown". "Shooting not terrorism related". If they don'y know the motive how do they know it wasn't terrorism related?

The first Sunday of October was the Vegas shooting, conservatives targeted. The first Sunday of November was the Texas Church shooting, conservatives targeted. Pattern developing? Coincidence?

It appears the Texas Rangers are maintaining command of the investigation. Should be more honest than Vegas.

This shit has gotten so bad the media is now categorizing mass shootings. Today's horror in Texas is being called "the worst *church* shooting in US history."

So many we can now file them as Mall, Movie Theatre, Church, Nightclub, Concert, College etc.

It's only going to get worse. :-(

The shooter was dishonorably discharged. He could not possess a weapon legally but he had one. Gun laws don't work! AND it turns out a legal firearm owner shot at the scumbag ENDING the incident. That will make this story end in a hurry. Communist's don't like successful gun owner stories.

He had a bad conduct discharge, not a dishonorable. A dishonorable can be treated like a felony conviction and impede firearm sales. A bad conduct usually means you're still considered loser garbage, but just administratively, not criminally.

Either way, this was for attacking his first wife and her kid. Their marriage was short. He was messed up. His current wife's family was affiliated with the church.

My money is on a marital problem. He wanted to lash out at her and her family and her church. I grew up familiar with small town church life and could speculate as to a couple of predictable reasons, but I'll wait and see.

Makes Sense To Me!!!

I could be wrong about this, the laws could have changed. Being refused a Concealed Carry Permit does not negate in Texas the Right open carry and/or long gun ownership.

More gun control is not a solution. Seems to me more honest people need to carry. Surely you all have heard "Fight Crime, Shoot First"? That too makes sense to me.

I'll have to recheck then. I saw several references to dishonorable. One reason cited was for possessing child porn. Only saw that reason once though so I'm not repeating that. Did read it though.

Edit: Can you get a lesser "bad conduct charge" if you received a court-martial conviction?

Sharpshooting plumber fired shot that took down Texas church gunman

The man hailed as a hero for confronting the Texas mass shooter during his rampage is a sharpshooting plumber with no military background — who hit the gunman through a gap in his body armor, according to a report.

It was definitely for beating up his first wife and her kid. She divorced him while he served his 12 months, listed the jail as her husband's location. Whole marriage lasted about a year.

He apparently also had an hour-long standoff with Colorado police in 2014 after someone in an RV park - presumably his second wife - called the police after he beat their puppy. A neighbor described him as "off".

I don't know the ins-and-outs of a court-martial, but my understanding is that they have considerable leeway in sentencing. One way or another, he bought the rifle legally, at a sporting goods store in Texas, using his Colorado address for the background check.

What I was getting at about the situation - and I'm more comfortable saying it now that it's come out about the Colorado thing - is that his second wife probably got a dose of all the same trouble as his first, and was one foot out the door with the kids.

He was reportedly always an outcast, was loud about hating church and church-goers, seemed fixated on his kids, and she's a reasonably attractive woman that he probably wouldn't see himself being able to replace, especially with it being his second try at building a family.

You put two and two together and figure he probably left one too many bruises on her, the wife's family and maybe even the small town church congregation closed ranks to get him out of the picture, and he decided the failure of his marriage and family was all their fault.

EDIT: There it is. He'd been sending threatening messages to his mother-in-law.

Has anyone published Devin Kelley's DD 214? I can't find it. Half the internet says bad conduct discharge and the other half says dishonorable discharge. Nobody has provided an image of his DD 214 to prove it. I'll wait to see it before I believe anything.

It does seem that there's some debate over this: although he definitely got a knockdown to bad conduct, people familiar with the system are saying he still should have been in the prohibited persons database.

I was not aware that even certain misdemeanors put you on the list. Will be interested to see what went wrong.

You'd think this would be easier to figure out. Looks like we will just have to wait.

If this is authentic you were right about the bad conduct designation however it also states he could not legally possess firearms under this status. Typical government making everything so complicated.

EDIT: Looks like your Q of what went wrong is the AF failed to enter his domestic violence conviction into the NCIC. That explains the reporting confusion I'd say.

Had an edit in there bingoloid if you came in before I saved it. Looks like they never entered him in the system for domestic violence. That seems to be where the confusion in reporting on his legality of weapons possession was coming from.

In less than 48 hours we know every useful fact about this shooting. 5 weeks after Las Vegas and we don't know shit. Does anyone want to seriously debate that some kind of really bad deep state operation didn't go down in Vegas?? They were caught in so many lies they had to walk away from the investigation. Let that sink in, really let it sink in.
