In PA, a state lawmaker was recently accused of raping a woman, four years ago, who was blacked out on alcohol. He resigned two months ago. Only difference is Akshar was a cop at the time.

The issue is that politician was from a half-way civilized, and probably educated, area.

Fred is lucky because he is from here, where none of my above statement rings true.

Let's remember that Fred ran on a platform of pretending to know how to use a chainsaw - he's lucky he didn't cut his leg off making that commercial - and driving a big ole' (borrowed) truck.

His supporters love to claim he's "done so much for upstate", but can't tell you what. He just puts on a minstrel show in countryface for them and they eat it up, while he does his self-serving thing in Albany. That's all he has to offer, and a lot of local voters have normalized criminal thinking to the point that when stories like this come up, they can't fully grasp that these things are considered problems in normal America and would render a person jobless. Remember the folks who thought Debbie Preston had done nothing wrong and were genuinely confused to find out that you can get arrested for that?

Fred's loudest defenders on social media of late are actually Battisti pawns, many of whom were either his former criminal defense clients or personal friends of his family with colorful legal histories of their own. (That, and a couple of his father's most shameless brown-nosers at SUNY Broome. I know for a fact that others are afraid to take Korchak signs for fear of professional retaliation.) I don't think the online debate accurately represents what most local people say in their own homes, nor is there anything conservative about how their circle carries on. Absurdly, some supporters on Battisti's page have proudly admitted that they are ineligible to vote due to their felony convictions.

Both Paul and Fred are projecting when they claim that this is all a Korchak smear campaign. The idea that a Broome County ADA is coordinating attacks statewide and nationwide, attacks which began years before he was running, is laughably stupid. We've seen the same cycle play out again and again, with the same few people from the Battisti camp swarming every news story claiming that these criticisms are false and misleading, before the stories are invariably proven true just days or hours later.

I'd say it's like Game of Thrones, with Paul's sketchy aunt sending her flying lizards to do the bulk of the fighting, but the only things Paul has in common with Jon Snow are that he's very short and his woman's family is a hot mess.

With that said, it's worth pointing out that a lot of Fred's loud defenders on social media are actually Battisti pawns, many of whom were either his former criminal defense clients or personal friends of his family with colorful legal histories of their own.
