We will beat these bastards. I don't know exactly how yet since they are breeding like rats in the education system but all I know is I'm not going to lay down for these lunatics. My hope is in Generation Z. Early studies of them showed they were trending towards old school America. They abhor debt for example. I've seen some recent polling that made them look leftist. I think that is propaganda trying to reshape them. Something tells me Gen X and Gen Z teamed up with sane boomers will get this done before it is too late.

Ginger, ginger, ginger don't you know it is a crime to be white? Just ask BU.

I'm searching for a snappy comeback.  As usual I don't have one.

I'll probably have one at 3am when I'm at work. :) Have a good week.

That video is an indictment of education in general and society as a whole. Logic and rhetorical debate have been cast aside in favor of histrionics, volume, and vulgarity. Sadly those vulgar and inarticulate young people not only incorrectly consider themselves intelligent and righteous, they receive artificial validation by being admitted to a prestigious university that then apparently fails to educate them on civility, rhetoric, or logic. If I were a student enrolled at BU, I'd show this video to administrators and demand a refund of my clearly wasted tuition money. One hundred dollars says the shrieking students are "Social Justice" majors of some sort in the school of Human Development.

Exactly what I was thinking.  It's a reflection of the greater problems in our society with informed discussion or debate, and civil discourse.

Can the students, especially those who were packing up the republicans materials be charged with a hate crime regarding violating first amendment rights? "You're white"

BTW did anyone catch the student who was stating  Israel should be bombed nonstop? Somebody might want to inform them SUNY has research partnerships worth billions in that country. They also have a study abroad program. Although I doubt any of THOSE students....

SERIOUSLY, THOSE ARE NY'S BEST AND BRIGHTEST?

If it makes you feel any better, you know how once in a while you read a news story about some kid who spent a lot of money on a graduate degree and ended up paying student loans running a meat slicer at the deli?

These are those kids.

Just because you got the marks to get into a decent school - and SUNY Binghamton is just that, a solid school, not an elite one - doesn't mean you're going to have the chops to get anywhere with it afterwards. Stenger isn't doing them any favors not having campus police set them straight, because they're in for a nasty surprise about how seriously they'll be taken or how patient will be with them in the outside world after they graduate - if they graduate. Plenty of those in the nonsense programs will go on to graduate school, but be stuck as adjuncts for life.

Academia has a "save every student" mentality right now, but you can't save people from themselves.

I seriously think it only happens the other way around...I don't think I've ever read about the above happening.

And, yes, I heard that BS about Israel.

lol, a hate crime...

People, first learn what the first amendment protects you from, then think about asking the question.

Yeah, I saw that blowup earlier...plus Akshar's response blasting them.

There's no talking or debating w/ these people.

And so it escalates. As predicted.

Simple human nature being rendered complex by weak kneed standard operating BU officials. No consequences for inappropriate unlawful behavior and duh. It's going to get worse my friends. These respect nothing "children" with very little or no responsible upbringing become more empowered with each and every pass given. And bank on it.....there have been many many passes given in their short lives.

But apart from the lack of a responsible upbringing, a good part of their lack of respect stems from the statistical probability that 100% of the mob at the initial table turning incident are attending BU absolutely free of charge.  Again....human nature ....no skin in the game.....no respect.....very easy to devalue the entire process.

Correct.

Anybody working security at SUNY Broome - and most of the faculty, if they're being honest - will tell you what a disaster the programs to use SUNY Broome as a prep school for Binghamton University have been. Binghamton University is pushing back and wants them to spend two years at Broome instead of one because they're still not ready.

Some of those kids are simply not ever going to be ready, but it's all about farming as much money as they can. They're reluctant to crack down because they don't want to chase away the cash cows and risk contracting instead of expanding.

Yes there was, and here is one of the videos.  What I can't wrap my head around is, why are they chanting "FREE SPEECH" when they are the ones not allowing the conservatives their First Amendment right?  Hypocrisy at it's finest.

Because they are nuts. I'm so glad this happened locally. It has been going on all around the country at higher indoctrination institutes since the 2016 elections. I'm getting a kick out of so many here  seemingly seeing this 'student' behavior for the first time. I've lost track but I think the group running it all is 'By any means necessary'. Maybe Pete or P&C knows for sure. It doesn't look like ANTIFA on the campuses to me. They operate in the streets usually.

Also, Akshar's being a snowflake by cancelling his appearance.

I agree. I've watched a lot of the nut job ANTIFA videos and this isn't how they do things normally. Similar but they usually like street disruptions and assaults outside the building.

I'm reading the r/BinghamtonUniversity subreddit over lunch. Conrad's way out of the loop. There seems to be little, if any, sympathy for the "protest" among most students.

I am disgusted by the way this university is handling this situation. President Stenger has been to cowardly to stand a stance and has resorted to using the Vice President as his proxy. The vocal minority on this campus is tarnishing the name of this university, wasting time and money, and distracting from learning. A prestigious guest speaker was welcomed here as a guest and instead instead of serving as a forum for expressing different ideas, it has become a political stunt. I should not feel uncomfortable to express my opinions at this university that is claimed to be a “safe space.” I am especially curious to see how the university handles the protest that is planned for 3:00 PM tomorrow. I would like to see some actual action done to prevent this from further escalating. I would love to go back to minding my own business instead of fearing that a violent mob will start assaulting my peers. There is serious injustice in the world and these immature, anti-free-speech demonstrators are not the solution, they are apart of the larger problem.

I also want to make another quick comment. I asked officers a lot of questions about how the queueing process was working (since the hall was filled to capacity), and they were very polite the whole time despite the stressful circumstances. I saw two officers get hit with the door they were standing in front of by someone that pushed it unbelievably hard (no doubt in my mind that this was on purpose). They were also yelled at and belittled as they attempted to detain someone. I was taken back by how the officers just took all this BS. They deserve so much more credit than they get. That is all.

i feel pretty bad for them because they are so clueless. deep down, they belive they are fighting the good fight to stop racism. their intentions arent bad, but the path to hell is paved by good intentions.

This reads as a "oops, we screwed up the first time." This type of response is what should have been the response on Thursday. I don't care what the circumstances were. You can't convince me a small group of people handing out flyers somehow intimidated a mob of 200+ people. Nor will you convince me that 200+ people organized and acted so atrociously to enforce SA tabling policies. They did it to intimidate the people tabling and to intimidate anyone else watching that free speech is not allowed on this campus unless you subscribe to their radical ideologies. It was school yard bullying by dumb people. People that exhibit these traits have no place in an institution for higher learning. Period.

Every sane person afterward was saying that if they condoned the type of abhorrent behavior from the protestors, it would set precedent and encourage more acts of mob-fueled repression of speech and expression. And here we are, exactly as predicted.

Even with everything BCC does, enrollment is down.  The spring enrollment is down double digits percentage.

I think Gen Z is their problem PM. I need to do a more comprehensive study on them but all the bits and pieces I've picked up is they are going to be the cavalry we need. They don't like debt, they are more interested in trade schools than college, they think they should save money, they think abortion is wrong, they want to bring FANNY PACKS back for crying out loud, they like old rock, on and on. I've seen some polls that makes them look leftist but as I said in another post I think that is propaganda trying to reshape them. I don't believe it. That BCC drop most likely is them and it backs up what I've read so far.

Universities are steady. Some state schools - including Binghamton - are actually seeing record enrollment.

It's for-profit colleges and community colleges where things really fell off a cliff.

There's a few different ways to look at that. Unemployment has been falling steadily since 2010, which probably means more high school graduates expect to be able to find acceptable jobs. I was told that community colleges expect to lose about 2% of their students for every 1% drop in unemployment.

It might also mean more students who used to use community college as a stepping stone are going straight to university. Actually, I Googled about transfer enrollment and this was the first thing that came up, looks like close to a 10% drop:

My point exactly. The illegals and left over millenials looking for free everything are taking advantage of the system. Gen Z is not looking for a hand out and they know for profit colleges are only going to strap them with a lifetime of worthless debt. They like trade schools. Nice charts though. You like your facts like I do. You got anything good on GEN Z yet?

Good Morning Bing...for years we were told only the highest calibre students were admitted to that school. One student in that video, she think she's super special because she "got into this school". PACK IT UP, TIME TO GO...No wonder they chose to locate their pharmacy and nursing schools off campus. Take that anyway you like.
