I like to rattle the cage (in case people haven’t noticed).

Last year in the US, 36,560 people were killed in traffic accidents. What will it take to end this carnage? The answer is obvious: travel must be made illegal. The current martial law/curfew/lockdown situation will tell you everything you need to know about this within a couple of weeks. And 500,000 deaths per year are attributed to smoking-related diseases in the US. What will it take to end this carnage? The answer is obvious.

People keep promising me that things are going to get really bad and then I'll finally realize the point of this shut-down. We're over two weeks into it and all I see to justify it are 10,000,000 claims for unemployment versus about 6,800 deaths, in a country of 330,000,000.

Sorry to bust any bubbles but my day to day routine has not changed much. And from what I see when out and about I am far from alone.

The grocers are a little less crowded, but still have rude cashiers with too long lines. Going to find out in a couple hours how it is today when Seniors get paid.

Common Sense, Common Courtesy, a Sense of Humour, I believe is keeping us Safe, not Over Reaching State Politicians.

Social Security benefit payments are deposited on the second, third, or fourth Wednesday of each month, depending on your day of birth. If you were born on the: 1st–10th of the month: Expect your Social Security payment to be deposited on the 2nd Wednesday of each month.

Same experience here. Most people are demonstrating that they think this is total bullshit. Saw a few masks here and there but most people are doing what they were doing before the hysteria hoax kicked in. That being said, I heard Dr Fauci say, like myself, we think there is a catalyst that is propelling this virus in some patients. He says the CDC is looking for it. I'm keeping my eye on Ohio Valley death rates and watching to see what is going to happen in Africa.

Perhaps, it’s in the interests of certain people/groups to declare death by COVID-19 in anyone who tests positive for the virus no matter the actual cause of death. The fact that there is a death in NYC every 9.1 minutes means that lots of people die from lots of things in NYC, and the benign nature of over half of the cases of COVID-19 lends itself nicely to being classified as a cause of death in a patient with hypertension, lung cancer, heart disease, and COVID-19.

I think, Ginger, that Africa is going to be a total mess.  The only thing that has slowed the spread of COVID-19 is the very poor transportation infrastructure that limits travel between communities. Once it does get communicated within a community, the results will be devastating.  Poor to non-existent health care, a low literacy rate that inhibits understanding of what needs to be done , lack of hot water and sanitation, and poor health and nutrition in general. Add on top of that famine and locust swarms and you have a recipe for disaster.  That's when they start trying to claw their way to Europe. Is a lot of it their own fault? Yes. Lack of good governance, corruption, and tribal rivalries have inhibited stability.

We'll see, but that's my bet.

Shopped at two stores yesterday. Both were slow business about what one might see on a normal mid-week day. Shoppers were normal, friendly, actually smiling when called for. The couple times someone sneezed instead of a hysterical evacuation he was met with "Bless you", "GOD Bless, must be allergy?", and a couple other mumbled responses.

On streets there was enough traffic to cause a couple under the breath comment. And while not a lot of folks walking, I think there were more than a drab grey cold rainy damp day would normally bring out. Some kids, some what democrats call kids when necessary, some adults and a few dogs. 

Not everything was Normal, obviously. However, I still have no doubt whatever the hell is going on (especially in NYS), is not virus related, only virus as distraction.

How can any of this any longer be taken as Gospel when the Major Concern of Congress is how to get as much as they can from Taxpayers, into the hands of Tax money Takers controlled by dnc affiliates.

(NYC just sent virus positive patients to Comfort "accidently"?)

SSI I have no clue, that is State run pretty much I think. But possibly you are thinking of a different benefits program?

City folks are more susceptible than rural to cabin fever.

a week from now, maybe a bit longer, people will be having a bunch of money.

Where will they spend that money if there are no places open? There are more renters than home owners.
