DanCooper
Weekly curbside recycling will be discontinued. It will go biweekly. Yard waste pickup is discontinued. You will have one day for pickup - 3/25.
PeteMoss
Any excuse to cut down on services.
DanCooper
My thought exactly. Cutting sanitation should not be taken so lightly. Parts of Endwell had a rat infestation, a couple of years back. Allowing recyclables to pile up is inexcusable. No reason given. Just a statement of reduced services. Will taxes go down? Don’t count on it. All of these entities will be taxing more to be ready for the next crisis.
PeteMoss
Materese's letter indicates it is being done for the employees safety. Wanna bet we don't go back to every week recycling after this is over?

PeteMoss
The proof that this is BS is the fact that they are going to stop picking up yard waste for the forseeable future. What the heck is dangerous about yard waste? Can someone get the Chinese Virus from yard waste? Since when? I have never heard this. Just another bunch of bull from Dick Materese. Endwellian
This is total BS. With more people home they will be producing more items for recycling collection.

Endwellian
Rick Materese doesn't have an opponent in the 2020 election. If he did he would make the ToU employees step up and provide more services, especially with people eating all meals at home.
DanCooper
Sitting around the garage, staring at each other and drinking coffee beats ramping up sanitation, during a pandemic said no one.
Property & Casualty
This is just ridiculous. I would love to see the supposed science behind this decision. I would also love to have some questions answered. 1) When will my property taxes be adjusted since the TOU has eliminated one service and cut another one by half? 2) In what way will these crews be serving the Town now that we’ve cut the above services? I may resort to some drive by dumping in front of Slick Rick’s house. Let him deal with It...
Endwellian
That's exactly right, Property & Casualty. Our taxes should be cut since the town is scaling back on services. As I've stated, I'm working from home. My wife is working from home 50% of the time, and we have children. In just the last week, we put out twice the bags of garbage and twice the amount of recycling as we normally do, because we are eating all our meals at home. PeteMoss
TO follow up, I am also stuck at home. Just because of that I am cleaning and throwing out a lot of items. I had more recycling and trash than I ever had. No one is running against Rick so he can do whatever he wants.
Property & Casualty
I just heard the Town will be accepting yard waste for drop off at 1425 Campville Rd in Endicott.

Yes, the newly opened facility at 1425 Campville Rd will be accepting yard waste, recycling, Christmas trees, electronics such as TV’s, and used motor oil. All items should be left on the grass, but may be left in the road if needed.
PeteMoss
So the ToU did not pick up a friend's yard waste today. He has a Ring Camera so he KNOWS that the truck did not go on his street. Now I know why Rose got after those workers. Dick just lets them sit in the garage.
Endwellian
In times like these, local governments should be stepping up, doing more to help residents during these difficult times. But not in the Town of Union, we are losing services. This is absolutely unacceptable.
