I understand this Corona virus is serious.  I understand its contagious as hell.  I understand people are going to die from it.  I do not however understand this nation wide defeatist attitude.  We are teaching our children that this is some boogey man that is hiding in the shadows and will get us and kill us all.  Bullshit.  We need to stand up and say we are going to fight this, and we are going to beat this.  We are not Italy, we are sure the fuck not China.  We need to get our best and brightest on this, we need to keep a positive attitude, and we need someone to come out and say "Fuck this.  We got this.  We'll beat this.  We are better than this.  This is a temporary inconvenience, not a fucking death sentence"...Every single news report, every single article, every single comment is doom and fucking gloom.  We stand up to cancer, we put a brave, resilient face on to every disease known to man.... but this has us negative, cowering, and afraid.  I'm tired of it.  Fuck it.  If I get it, I will beat it.  So will you.  This is the message that we should be seeing, but it simply is not, and it sucks.

People's reaction to this depends on their political orientation.   dems are defeatists, don't fight, give up and die.

Sweetheart I'm doing my best to advocate. One of our hospitals must be designated "clean" for our nursing home and elderly populations to go to.

I kind of had this idea last night and I'm scouring the internet for any info...have you ever had a ct scan with contrast? It's iodine. I look at those depictions of what they say the virus (cell) looks like...I just wonder if something like that could interfere with miosis or the dreaded receptor site. Maybe one dose could interfere enough to buy the patient some time?

post edit...so I just learned something new...there is an ultrasound contrast called microbubbles and after the test this compound is eliminated through exhalation. the bubble is coated with albumin, a protein that could maybe bind with the virus protein?

How cool would it be if you could get the contrast to bind to the virus or part of the virus and just exhale it out...somewhere safe of course.

Maybe they could engineer the microbubbles to bind to the virus and act like pop rocks. BTW the microbubbles are smaller than a red blood cell.

Because I'm just that good...maybe soon we won't lose people like Neil Peart who also died from glioblastoma.

https://www.bioworld.com/articles/431673-lantheus-expands-microbubble-cancer-applications-with-carthera-collaboration   I bet they could make it work for virus'.

Dr. Vladimir (Zev) Zelenko

Board Certified Family Practitioner

501 Rt 208, Monroe, NY 10950

845-238-0000

March 23, 2020

To all medical professionals around the world:

My name is Dr. Zev Zelenko and I practice medicine in Monroe, NY. For the last 16 years, I have cared for approximately 75% of the adult population of Kiryas Joel, which is a very close knit community of approximately 35,000 people in which the infection spread rapidly and unchecked prior to the imposition of social distancing.

As of today my team has tested approximately 200 people from this community for Covid-19, and 65% of the results have been positive. If extrapolated to the entire community, that means more than 20,000 people are infected at the present time. Of this group, I estimate that there are 1500 patients who are in the high-risk category (i.e. >60, immunocompromised, comorbidities, etc).

Given the urgency of the situation, I developed the following treatment protocol in the pre-hospital setting and have seen only positive results:

1.  Any patient with shortness of breath regardless of age is treated.

2.  Any patient in the high-risk category even with just mild symptoms is treated.

3.  Young, healthy and low risk patients even with symptoms are not treated (unless their circumstances change and they fall into category 1 or 2).

My out-patient treatment regimen is as follows:

1.  Hydroxychloroquine 200mg twice a day for 5 days

2.  Azithromycin 500mg once a day for 5 days

3.  Zinc sulfate 220mg once a day for 5 days

The rationale for my treatment plan is as follows. I combined the data available from China and South Korea with the recent study published from France (sites available on request). We know that hydroxychloroquine helps Zinc enter the cell. We know that Zinc slows viral replication within the cell. Regarding the use of azithromycin, I postulate it prevents secondary bacterial infections. These three drugs are well known and usually well tolerated, hence the risk to the patient is low.

Since last Thursday, my team has treated approximately 350 patients in Kiryas Joel and another 150 patients in other areas of New York with the above regimen.

Of this group and the information provided to me by affiliated medical teams, we have had ZERO deaths, ZERO hospitalizations, and ZERO intubations. In addition, I have not heard of any negative side effects other than approximately 10% of patients with temporary nausea and diarrhea.

In sum, my urgent recommendation is to initiate treatment in the outpatient setting as soon as possible in accordance with the above. Based on my direct experience, it prevents acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), prevents the need for hospitalization and saves lives.

With much respect,

Dr. Zev Zelenko

Hi 75 :) This is good if you can catch the virus early enough... the problem is, you could be coughing up a lung...you could hear the crackles without a stethoscope ...good luck trying to get an antibiotic in Broome County.

I'm trying to find some answer to knocking the viral load down and or out in one fell swoop. Those drugs take time to work.

Question...a patient in a nursing home falls, hits their head and has to be sent out...where are they going?

Be more worried about Governor Cuomo sending a COVID patient to a nursing home. Nursing homes have been directed that they must accept COVID patients if told to do so. So if a nursing home is COVID free they still run the chance of being infected.

So well put, I could not have put it any better. One main problem though is the never ending hatred for our President that the media has pushed that puts a negative spin on everything positive, for once I would like all this hatred to go away and work as a united front to beat this scourge, in the end we ALL can stand up and say we are proud Americans and strong.

Well this reads rather ominously but it does give instructions on how to make a mask out of coffee filters.

Sorry, I hadn't realized there was a thread for this - I wrote over there about it. :)
