Good morning. I was wondering what that was about. I came into town, hit the bank, filled the gas tank then decided to "patrol" a little before heading home. I saw 2 young ladies and a bicycler headed toward downtown and thought I'd check on Boscovs. I see they have police barricades and tape blocking the sidewalks. Then out of nowhere 2 city police car sirens went whizzing by. I back tracked around to see where those young girls went but they disappeared...I'm guessing they crossed over the Clinton Street bridge.

I was happy to see it didn't look like anything on my side of town was vandalized.

Any word on the carousel?

Nothing official but last I knew the fire dept had it under control. So I’m assuming the carousel is ok. Not sure if this link will work. It’s video of the fire. The playground has to be toast.

The link seems to work but it's making me wait to access it. So they burned down the playground for the disabled children? I'm trying to recall the cost of that, thinking $250 grand. Is it me but are all of the states where this is happening blue states?

Probably not a Ka-Winky-Dink.

Gonna be interesting to see who “they” are.

A Go Fund Me page has already been set up to help rebuild the playground.  What was the cost involved? I did some Googling and it looks like close to $1 million. 900 volunteers helped build it along with Parks and Rec employees who logged 5,200 hours of work.

It does look like whether he was actually involved or not, Mr. Southee is going to have a stressful few days ahead of himself. Shouldn't go popping off on social media if you don't want to be the prime suspect when things pop off for real.

Nah, white kids (see my Sunday post about ME seniors) are being recruited nationwide to be set up as patsies for the real criminals. This is next level political chess.

What a shame.  These aren't protesters....they're criminals doing these things.  It's really sad that kids won't be able to go there.

Please do not think this criticism, simply want to know.

Is rec park the one local residents helped build with their own hands and had taken over by drug dealers evey night?

Hearing rumor of three white males being taken into custody.

What I've been hearing throughout the day is that the suspects were known as soon as it happened.

Supposedly, several young people were forcibly blocked from joining the protest yesterday because they were only coming to cause problems and didn't take it well.

Supposedly, several young people who fit their description were seen leaving the scene of the fire last night.

Makes sense, given what Zikuski and Korchak said implied they already knew exactly what had happened. This is also likely what Dan Livingston was referring to about it being retaliation against the protest.

We'll see.

I believe it is Sir. It was that way when I departed BC.  I still think that the kids could enjoy it in the daytime.

Sorry Dan, but I don't agree. They are responsible for their actions.

Allow me to be more clear on the prior statement: My point was BLM wants media to show images of white folks in their daytime peaceful gatherings to later say these (white) people returned later to cause violence and loot, to strike fear in BLM. That’s all.

ANTIFA (terrorist group) is known to be mostly white. Connect the dots as you will.

Moreover, Bing, I’m willing to wager these three young men are not knights of the KKK or any other white supremacist group.  If I’m right than Livingston is wrong.

I didn't see Livingston say anything about them being white supremacists or anything of the kind, Dan. If I missed it, so be it, but all I saw was that he said the playground was retaliated against because it was the site of the protest - which is the rumor, that the arsonists were angry that they had been sent away and burned the playground for revenge.

As for the rest of it, if you were active in politics during the run-up to the Iraq War, you likely remember the ANSWER Coalition, which was quietly a front group for activists from the Workers World Party, a splinter faction that left the Socialist Workers Party years earlier because it wasn't pro-Soviet enough for them.

Each protest attracted so-called "black bloc" groups, overwhelmingly white anarchists who identified with the WWP's laundry list of issues, who would trash neighborhoods across the country. They teach each other riot tactics in advance and arrive prepared with gloves, helmets, etc., and try to convince others to get violent with them. Their theory was that the "revolution" would come about if they could lure in enough mainstream people and radicalize them.

"Antifa" is the same people in their current organizational incarnation. I've seen very little support for the narrative that there are white supremacist agitators in any significant numbers, but it's a fact - and I'm hearing this from black Republican friends on the ground in Austin who have been dealing with it firsthand - that chasing anarchists off has been a central activity for organizers and it's something that police and protest organizers are trying to work together on to the extent possible.
