The Dems are just stalling for time until they can have a brokered convention and pick someone else. So why doesn't he drop out now? Simple - the Dems can't have that. They're pressuring him to stay in. And why is that? Who is in second place in delegate counts right now? Bernie. And while the Dems are trying to convert this country to socialism or communism, they're trying to do so quietly and slowly, under the radar, so that most people do not notice. Bernie and his supporters openly use and embrace the "S" word. The Dems can't have truth in advertising. Which is why they screwed him in 2016 and again in 2020. Well, they've painted themselves into a corner. It can't be a white male. Especially an old one. I don't know if Hillary still has any control over the party now. Even though she will probably argue during the convention negotiations that the "Russians stole" what was rightfully hers four years ago. That is a possibility. She wants a rematch. And she has been relatively quiet, so nothing new since 2016 can be used against her. Most likely it's going to have to be a minority though. I don't know if any of those that ran during the primaries have a chance, since the voters already thoroughly rejected people like Harris and Booker. I don't think enough Americans - even Dems - are willing to have a gay person on the top ticket. And Mayor Pete is too white. At this point, most major names have already been under some sort of microscope. It'll have to be someone with experience but also not have been on the major stage before. Someone who hasn't had their background thoroughly examined yet, and had their skeletons exposed in some form. And with only about 2.5 months between the convention and election, it'll be a short enough amount of time for the MSM to provide cover for them. And they can run with the story that only right-wing extremist media such as Fox News will have anything bad to say about their candidate. And just like the old "dog ate my homework" excuse, they'll also blame any negative stories about their candidate on the Russians trying to influence the election. If Hillary and her people still do have any influence left, they'll probably make sure that whoever is the Presidential nominee - if not her - is NOT a woman. Hillary wanted that title of "first woman President " for herself, and no one else should have that opportunity while she is still alive. So it'll probably be a black man. With the unspoken slogan for the campaign: "If you don't vote for the Dem candidate - a black man - you'll prove that America is still a racist country." Oh yeah - "If we lose, expect the rioting to torch all of your cities." Just remember that you do have a free choice.
