Looking for a current list of all COVID vaccine providers in New York? You're out of luck

Recommended Posts

ALBANY – Where do you turn to find out who is offering the COVID-19 vaccine? In New York, there's no simple answer.

New York has no central, one-stop shop for seeking out vaccine locations across the state, leaving those searching for a shot to scour local websites and repeatedly dial up pharmacies to try to schedule a highly coveted appointment or spot on a waiting list.

The state Department of Health has refused repeated requests from the USA TODAY Network New York over the past week to reveal a list of pharmacies, clinics and other providers who have received vaccine doses recently.

New York's refusal is in stark contrast to many other states, including TexasFloridaOhioPennsylvaniaMassachusetts and Connecticut, all of which have online maps or locator tools that allow residents to find the vaccination location nearest them.

It's not as if the information does not exist.

You are right and this is completely inappropriate. I've been screaming at anyone and everyone...immunizations should be given in the auditorium at your local elementary school and administered by the school nurse. On the first of March if your last name starts with an A report for your shot...on the 2nd of march if your last name starts with a B...report for your shot...

Call the school the night before to tell them you are coming...this isn't rocket science...

Sending people to Citifield in NYC is the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

Well, I have to disagree with that. Due to the staggered requirements (first front-line, then 75 or over, then 65 or over, then comorbitities etc) AND the fact you should remain for 30 minutes after the shot really does require appointments be made else you’ll get major logjams and a host of other problems with way too many people showing up.

if this vaccine was equally critical for everyone then yes, a system such as yours would be prudent, though birthdays rather than alphabetical would be better for a steady quantity day to day.

The main reason for the slowness of the system has been less supplies of vaccine than was planned/promised. That WILL subside in the coming weeks and be smoother as time passes.

Ok fine..your idea works too...auditoriums have plenty of seats to social distance..the point is to administer the vaccine where people can actually get to it. It's winter in upstate NY.

They barely had enough to handle 1a, but still opened 1b the next freaking day

🙄

Now, they’re saying adding the co-morbidities will crash the system.

I’m not seeing anything about this whole CF moving smoothly.
