US Expects to Admit More Than 90,000 Evacuated Afghans

Recommended Posts

The immigration numbers keep changing. These wars seem to result in US casualties, money down the drain and countless immigrants. That's about it. We need to really re-evaluate our engagement policy based on outcomes since Vietnam. They are all the same. US casualties,, chaotic disengagements after failed nation building, mass migrations from those countries, huge econimic losses.

Nearly 130,000 were airlifted out of Afghanistan in one of the largest mass evacuations in U.S. history. More than 40,000 have arrived in the U.S. so far. Mayorkas said about 20% are either U.S. citizens or permanent residents. While he said the U.S. expected to admit at least 50,000 Afghans, he suggested there was no set limit or a specific time frame.

Most of the Afghans who have arrived in the U.S. are being housed on military bases around the country. Fort McCoy, Wisconsin, 8,800; Fort Bliss, Texas, 6,200; Fort Lee, Virginia, 1,700; Joint Base McGuire–Dix–Lakehurst, 3,700; Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico, 650; Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia, 800; Fort Pickett, Virginia, 3,650 and Camp Atterbury, Indiana, 65.

Generally on topic.

Bayer Leverkusen and Germany midfielder Nadiem Amiri has brought a smile to the faces of refugees from Afghanistan by inviting them to Germany's 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier with Armenia on Sunday.

Amiri's own family fled Afghanistan in the 1980s and moved to Germany where the Leverkusen man was born.

Golly, I was just saying to my wife the other day: "You know, honey, what this country doesn't have nearly enough of? Hordes of unvetted strangers who don't speak the language, don't share our religious faith, have lived their entire lives in terrorist-sponsoring countries, have no intention of assimilating, AND need we the people to help pay for all their needs for the rest of their lives."

I think it's wonderful they found a home in Portugal along with hundreds of family, no doubt. Do you ever wonder why none of the mass of migrants ever end up in Africa, the Mid East, Asia, Russia, the Carribean etc.? Is diversity only good for Western Civilization?
