WINTER STORM WARNING UNTIL 5 PM MONDAY

Wind chill numbers from the National Weather Service don't make sense to me. Maybe someone can explain.

From:
https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?CityName=Binghamton&state=NY&site=BGM&textField1=42.1001&textField2=-75.9139&e=0
there are the following numbers (as of 6:15 pm Friday on the website):

Friday Night
Low Temp: -1
Wind: 10-14 mph, with gusts to 25 mph
Wind Chill: -16

Saturday
High Temp: 11
Wind: 8-10 mph
Wind Chill: -17

So Saturday will be warmer than Friday night by 12 degrees, the wind will not gust and will be 2-4 mph slower, yet somehow the wind chill will be lower and colder? How does that work?

BREAD AND MILK!

lol I just came home from Wegmans...what a joke. I know I know, why would I go to Wegmans on a Friday night before a bad weather event? Because my daughter gave me a$250 gift card for Christmas and I'm taking the week off and hibernating in my home that I barely live in any more. (singing Tom Petty ...I don't have to live like a refugee...for a week anyway.)

Wegmans has gone woke overboard. I can't believe the simple things I wanted to purchase that they didn't have...Nathans hotdogs..I bought A&H Kosher out of the Bronx for twice the price...they'd better be twice as good.

Hunts tomato sauce for Chili..and of course they don't specify ground chuck, ground sirloin... so I did not purchase ground beef...obviously I'm going to have to hit up Price Chopper tomorrow morning.

Not one box of powdered dishwasher detergent...so I got ripped off having to purchase the pods.

Charmin...24=96...$26.00 at Wegmans and $21.00 at Walmart

Not one Clorox or Lysol brand toilet duck. But lots of very expensive plant based cleaners.

I took the last box of normal Bounce...240 count for $9.99...again plenty of bizarre organic brands that apparently NOBODY WANTS TO BUY, GET A CLUE WEGMANS!

No sirloin roast...I purchased a top round that looked ok. No eggs noodles of any kind.

The city bags are behind the counter now and of course I forgot because I was busy chatting with a very nice young lady...recent BHS high school grad.

I did not find my coconut milk creamer. I was also looking for boxed matches...couldn't find any.

I did purchase a new product. I didn't like Rao's jarred tomato sauce but I saw their soups and decided to try the chicken and gnocchi. I let you know how it was.

Then there was the parking...the lots were packed but God granted me an indulgence and I found a spot in the side lot, 3 spaces up..Thanks again Lord! But when it was time to leave you had to pull out facing the mall...if you went the other way you had to turn around and come back...not sure what was blocking the aisle down back but it was a pain because the car on my right was too close to me so I had to pull out the other way.

Wegmans used to be a reasonable store whose prices weren't that far off from everyone elses. I don't think that's the case now. Too much effort. Less bang for my buck.

Unfortunately I have to venture out tonight but I hope all of you have a really cozy night and weekend. :)

Ginger,

I had a hard time with egg noodles last week at Weis..???

Ended up with Manachewitz (sp?)…wonderful!

Also, Weis has 90% gr beef 3.99# today-Sun…it’s good, I’ve had before, plus grass-fed chuck roasts 4.99#. I thought the price was good enough to try.

Maine’s chuck were 6.49# last night, but pork tenders were 2:99#.

Toup the last time I went to Maines...a few months ago... the meat looked horrendous. I've been doing all of my grocery shopping in Cobleskill or Emmons/Davenport Price Chopper up rt 88. Better quality, easier shopping/parking, normal prices and the shelves are stocked.

I kept wondering on twitter why all of these people were saying the shelves are empty...maybe because they are stocking their stores with crap nobody wants to buy?

It doesn't matter what we get.Where i live, which is rual, county plows my road. No complaints. But all that aside, the City Of Binghamton will be devistated or in lock down due to the DPW emploees not wanting to come out and plow. And to add to this effect, GET YOUR CAR OFF THE STREET. They will plow you in.And you have no choice> Ticket, towed, and or DIG! Your choice! I love the country. I don't have to deal with "City" dewellers. When i was yonger and living near State Park, we didn't have 4 wd. It was rear wheel drive. Thats how we learned.AND we STAYED HOME!!!  Key word here "STAY HOME"

For those into weather analysis and how the various models are playing out, I found this interesting YouTube channel and his current analysis:

That was a really good video. I like the way he moves things along. I wonder if we'll get anything significant. It looks like that hole may be right over us. Go figure,  I get to stay home and nothing will happen. 🙂

The one he had yesterday was great too. Showed several computer models, explained the differences, and said basically we're not really going to know what is going to happen until it hits Florida and bounces back north. The system in the mid-Atlantic is also a key player in how this thing is going to react.

Nice calm, detailed and informative explanations. No fear porn like you see on local TV.

The RAOS CHICKEN AND GNOCCHI SOUP...

It's not what you will expect. The base is earthy, more like wild mushroom... definitely not chicken. There are plenty of vittles, chicken carrot and spinach. The gnocchi left a lot to be desired. I give it a 7 out 10. For the price $4.00 and that's one large serving or 2 small...I'll try the Italian Wedding Soup.

I found Pennsylvania Dutch egg noodles at Weis on Robinson St...3 pkgs left. I usually don't purchase that brand because they're too starchy..I like the Light and Fluffy. Now I'm sorry I didn't get the Manischewitz. I turned around and saw them but I was in a rush...I don't know why, it's not like I'm going anywhere..FOR A WHOLE WEEK...HAHAHAHAH! lol sorry.... :)

Nobody had ground chuck...I ended up buying 2 lbs of ground sirloin and adding 4 slices of bacon to the chili.

I was really shocked at the Prices at Weis...higher than everyones...I know wrong topic...sorry.

Waiting for the snow to fall!

Today's Tuesday right?  I thought that lake effect snow was supposed to stop last night.  In fact I had a work related phone call at 430 this morning and checked the weather radar. It looked like it was almost over. Now it looks like a snow globe out there.

The Godfather is on..Pauli just made the sauce. I think I'm making chowder today.

Stay cozy everyone :)

This morning surprised me as well.

Roads are not fun.

Wish I'd taken another day off.

Honest to God Toup.  I said I be off Friday thru Friday  I got roped into working last Friday and now it appears they think I'm working this Friday. And then I get a phone call at 430 this morning asking "where I'm at " I thought everyone got the memo.

Lol and I'm still getting messages for Dr Jafri. According to Verizon there's nothing they can do because the number is in their phones.
