Now, I know in politics, it's been very convenient to make George Soros out to be the Boogeyman. Blame him and his money — either contributed directly by him or through his shell organizations — for all of our country's and the world's woes. However, we've already seen with documented proof that Soros has been directly involved in the funding and helping to get elected District Attorneys around the country. New DAs that have had a major impact in how their cities are being run. Impacts such as putting restrictions on and hampering the police. Turning a blind eye to crime. Refusing to prosecute and letting major felons go free. Making a toxic work environment where staff leave. Which brings us to our area. Is Korchak really that incompetent? Or are we seeing a planned destruction of law and order in our community? Knowing which individuals and/or organizations helped fund his election might give an indication. So, just out of curiosity, has anyone ever done a deep dive in that direction? Maybe everything will come out squeaky clean, and he's simply an imbecile. If so, then this might be a good argument that elections would turn out much better if every position being voted on had the additional choice of "NONE OF THE ABOVE — START OVER." And they got another $100,000 from the Korchak and Kundrat (Nadine Korchak's family) families. They raised about $75,000. A lot of the money they raised came from employees of the DA's office, notably Chief Assistant DA Mark Loughran, Chief Investigator Jack Collins, and Investigator Jeffrey Wagner. Other notable donors include: $5,000 from Johnson City dentist Bill Marusich Former Judge Martin Smith, an alcoholic Pennsylvania resident, who appears in TV ads every year telling Broome residents who to vote for Lenny Pasquale, who's daughter Chrissy is co-owner of Colonial, Dos Rios, and Stone Fox Disgruntled perennial candidate Nick Libous Disgruntled oddball UE school board member Joseph Ozvold These are the people who gave us the worst DA in history, who is responsible for the corruption and increased crime and increased drug use in Broome County. Thank you for the info. So it looks like the blame is centered locally, and there were no outside forces at work. In some ways that's good to know. In other ways ... not so good. Maybe if there were still an active working press in this area. But as was illustrated in a two-week story arc in the comic strip Crankshaft a few months ago, larger corporations outside the area own just about all forms of the local media, and do the bare minimum to only keep the lights on and use them as cash cows. There was a photo posted on this site of Chris speaking. Korchak returned the favor and his office would campaign for Mara during her failed campaign for family court that Rita Basile, a bureau chief of the DA’s office contributed multiple times to Mara.
