Broome DSS clients being housed at Downtown Holiday Inn

The Binghamton Holiday Inn Arena has long been one of the nicer hotels in the area.  Even though it is Holiday Inn brand, the downtown hotel was always nice, clean and one of the recommended hotels to stay at in the Binghamton area.  That was until recently when they struck a deal with Broome County DSS to house DSS clients there.  

I'd like to know what this costs the county per room, per night?  They used to use the scummy Knights Inn in Endicott.  Everyone deserves a roof over their heads, but this deal makes no sense.  

If you have family coming to town for the holidays, I'd recommend they stay somewhere else.

Is there a homeless camp on the outdoor level of the State Office Building? These folks doing anything productive to help pay for their rooms? Clean some litter etc ? These folks being shipped up by NYC?

I stayed there for a few nights recently. Did not see any obvious evidence of this.   However, I do believe it is true, as I’ve heard about the DSS people from folks who would know.
