This is laughable.

Nick Bucci in 2020:  "Rich David is running for Congress!"

Bucci in 2022:  "Rich David is running for State Senate!"

Bucci in 2024:  "Rich David is running for County Executive!"

Bucci in 2025:  "Rich David is running for County Clerk!"

Many are saying this is a giant step down for Rich David.  The clerks job is a snooze, more of a historian or librarian kind of role. David likes the limelight, which this position doesn't come with.

It was Rich Bucci who talked Mihalko out of running, so David could slide right into the role.  Before the stories about Mihalko were even written, David had already informed the local news he was running.  This was all choreographed over the last few weeks.

Mihalko went back on his word to support his deputy clerk Chris Dziedzic, who planned to run for county clerk when Mihalko retired. This scheme concocted by Bucci gave David time to plan, while others were caught off guard by the announcement.  Mihalko didn't even tell staff his decision not to run again until yesterday morning.

Bucci convinced Mihalko he was looking out for him, but this was all done to clear the field for Rich David.

This is very true.  Slick Nick Bucci pretended to be looking out for Mihalko's best interests, but he was only trying to help Rich David.  Bucci preyed on Mihalko's fears, saying it would be a tough campaign for him, and he shouldn't put his family through it.  Apparently Mihalko's wife had a very tough time with the last campaign, and Bucci knew this was the card to play to get Mihalko to retire.

Aaron Martin, the clerk for the Broome County Legislature, tells News 34 that he is strongly considering a run to replace County Clerk Joe Mihalko who is retiring at the end of his term. Martin has been Legislature Clerk for 14 years and worked for the late State Senator Tom Libous before that.

He is currently President of the New York State Association of Clerks of County Legislative Boards, Board President of the Broome County Land Bank and an immediate past president of Vestal Rotary.
