Time to Cut Gov't Jobs

Businesses are being forced to cut jobs as the economy slows.

Somehow, businesses do not follow the plans of politicians who promise they will bring jobs to an area. (Wasn't that Hillary's campaign promise to us?)

Voters seem to think that jobs are automatic when their elected officials call the shots. Obviously this isn't true. What is true is that the pay scale for government workers is often compared to the private sector. That is then added to the extra paid holidays given to city, state, and federal workers while the blue collar guys are on the job.

Today the economy is in a free fall. Don't kid yourself, it's much worse than you can imagine due to the obvious high costs and so much of our money going out of this country. But our biggest problem now is the high cost of keeping the high payrolls of all kinds of government workers including those plum jobs for the friends of the elected folks who helped raise money for the campaigns. Water commissioners, public safety assistant deputy directors, staff people to help other staff people who help the clerical people.

I'm not knocking the hard working people in civil service nor the people who do work for government. I think today that high taxes to pay these people is just too much of a burden for the working guy who just got laid off to deal with.

If private sectors are cutting workers, public jobs must be cut also.

You're asking the government to reduce their own paychecks? Hah. The problem is we are expecting the government to create jobs for us, so we give them an excuse to add more government programs and positions. The government shouldn't be a job creator. It should only be involved in ensuring safety and fair business practices. Just look at Binghamton. We're using our own tax dollars to subsidize a bogus economy, while scaring away real businesses with higher taxes. As you've said, it doesn't work without real business to get taxes from.

It is not the government's responsibility to provide health care to the people. Government subsidized health care is the main thing dragging us down.
