Is the IRS move wasteful? Sure. Can we do much about it? No. On the other hand the Press & Sun-Bulletin could influence many local issues but it says or does nothing about them We can easily point to about $1,000,000 of direct, absolute waste by Matt Ryan, not to mention the time and effort lost on these lost causes instead of dealing with real issues. Why doesn't the Press & Sun-Bulletin hold Matt Ryan's feet to the fire and point out all the waste of taxpayer dollars he is DIRECTLY responsible for? We can do something about those. Where was the PSB when Ryan immediately wasted $35,000 almost the day he stepped into office on a needless study so he could put it in the pockets of his buddy Justin Woods? Ryan threw the study out before it was even made public? Where was the PSB when Ryan created the unnecessary position of Communication Director ($34,000) first for Leigh Ann Scheider? She jumped ship after four months. Then for sorority queen A&W Block of NYC now called the Community Relations Director for a community he knows nothing about? Where was the PSB when Ryan transferred the two Code Enforcement Officers back on to the City budget and off the Community Development Block Grant so he and Tarik Abdelazim could say the useless positions of Blight Coordinator and Sustainable Development Coordinator were not paid for by the City? There’s another $100,000 or more PER YEAR he added to the budget Where was the PSB when Ryan had to hire more engineers in the DPW because Luke Day, a high school dropout without any college education, who Ryan appointed to run the department has no clue what he is doing? There’s another $100,000 or so wasted. Where was the PSB when Ryan gave an $8000 raise to Tarik Abdelazim and $1000 raises to other appointees who should not even be employed in the first place? Where was the PSB when Ryan was spending $5000 per month on the Regency Hotel? Where was the PSB when Ryan supposedly sold it for $800,000 less than offered (or $200,000 less net they say)? Where is the PSB when Ryan wants to build a needless, useless, Court Street Gateway/Roundabout that will cost the City a matching $2,000,000 share? Where was the PSB when Ryan and Abdelazim launched an unnecessary and obsolete municipal wifi system that doesn’t even work that went from costing $58,000 to $98,000 without any explanation? Where was the PSB when Tarik Abdelazim and Dara Silberstein botched the civil servants contracts with the city? Where was the PSB when Tarik and Dara Silberstein botched the Teamster contract costing the city a bundle? Where was the PSB when Tarik and Dara Silberstein botched the firefighter contract giving away another 14% increase and locking the city in a contract for over $13,000,000 for more fighters and station per capita than any other town or city in the US? Where was the PSB when Ryan raised business taxes by 15% in two years? On every single one of these local issues where something could have actually been done to change or prevent them, The Press & Sun-Bulletin reported next to nothing and offer no comment or analysis or comparison. They took a month to mention Tronovitch's departure. They have not mentioned the cost overruns of the wifi system yet. They have never made the charade about the Code Enforcement officers clear. They have never made a comparison between all Binghamton's firefighters and other towns. They certainly have never done ANY analysis of any of these things or offered critical comment. Did they owe $300,000 as reported by by the PSB or was is $1,500,000? How does the City or County allow somebody to get $1,500,000 behind in taxes???? Is the proerty even worth that much?
