Peter D. Picalia

of Endicott

A salutation, a sharing of memories, remembrance of a true friend, a son, a brother, an uncle, a cousin, on Wednesday, March 5, 2008, Peter D. "Dragonman" Picalia passed away at his home after a brief but debilitating illness. Born 7 October, 1952, son of Grace Picalia and the late James Picalia, Peter embodied the soul of an ultimate individualist, one who followed the road of life without being distracted by others, one whose friendship and loyalty to those fortunate enough to have it was endless. Peter possessed a uniqueness of character truly special and quite rare in today's world, loyal and generous to a fault to those he cared for, always willing to help or become involved in helping his friends, he had an insight into people, a depth of knowing reality. Intuitive, eloquent when necessary, direct and to the point when needed, Peter held those he loved very close to his heart, always ready to help, always ready to champion their cause, fair in a fundamental way, a provider of reassurance, a sounding board for those close to him. A take-back to another time, things uncommon today, loyalty and unequivocal trust were the benchmarks by which he measured, honor and the willingness to help were the way he lived, always a son, a brother, always a friend. Peter is survived by his mother, Grace; predeceased by his father, James; and grandparents, the late Julia and Peter Picalila; leaving his sister, Julie and husband, George Eames; twin sister, Paulette and husband, Henry Pisarski; sister, Jamie and husband, Frank Russo; brother, James Picalia and his wife, Danette; and several nieces, nephews, and Godchildren whom he held very close to him. While we grieve and share our sorrow, while we miss that extraordinary and unique individual who walked with us through this life, we also celebrate as those who truly knew him, the honor, loyalty, dedication, and trust that Peter represented, that which he gave, and how much he cared. And although we will sorely miss him, we take solace in the fact that his presence will be felt always, his expression of "Love and Respect or L and R as he usually signed" always present, the true character of his being always in our hearts, a unique soul who has made a lasting impression on us all.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, 9:30 a.m. from the Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Endicott, at 10;00 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the Allen Memorial Home, Friday evening, 5-8 p.m.
