Two students arrested in connection with fight

BINGHAMTON — Two Binghamton High School students were arrested Tuesday for a fight inside the school that occurred at the end of the lunch period, Principal Albert Penna said.

The fight broke out in the first-floor hallway corridor shortly before noon, Penna said. Two school security officers and administrators responded and officials called Binghamton police, he said.

The two students, both males, had a verbal dispute that escalated to the fight, Penna said. No weapons were involved and neither student was injured. Police removed both students from the school, he said.

One student, whose age was unavailable, was charged with disorderly conduct for fighting in public, a violation. The second, who is 17, was charged with disorderly conduct for refusing to leave the area, a violation, as well as a misdemeanor for resisting arrest, Binghamton police said.

School officials are still investigating the cause of the fight, Penna said. Officials restored order inside the building in about 10 minutes, he said.

No weapons and no assault, just a plain fight. Wow schools are way too strict in their rules these days

I imagine this event may be a little "under-reported" given Mr. Penna's history, as well as the PSB's reluctance to report certain details.

A student who witnessed the fight told his Dad one of them pulled a knife.

Now this sounds more believable. Looks like security did a good job with their metal detectors when the students entered the school

I'm surprised it was just a knife and not a gun!
