Guest Guest
I heard that the protest on the parkway was a group of professional protesters who had just left a university sponsored gathering recognizing the 5th anniversary of the Iraq war, and decided to take the law into their own hands by “getting into people’s faces” in the community who they perceive are not part of their struggle for “peace”. In other words, they were disturbing the peace. If that is the case, I think the local community and the local media should stop associating these outlaws and memebers of the Binghamton University community. Guest Guest
"The idea of this is to basically forcibly remind people," said BU senior Zach Ziemba, 21, of Syracuse. "We're trying to tap people on the back and remind them this is still going on." Quote printed yesterday in the P&SB. Their intent was to disturb the peace to prove a point, and they used the BU gatering as a "meeting place" to assemble their event. Many of the protesters shown in the paper were way to old to be college students, they were professional protesters dragging the younger kids into their struggle. Maybe getting a job would help them pass the time, instead of us spending our hard earned cash on their sorry DELETED. @
Guest Guest
The protest on the parkway may have involved several BU students and perhaps some BU faculty, but this action does not appear to have been directly associated with any of the BU student associations. Those who took part in the parkway demonstration did so on their own, and if their actions were illegal this should not be a reflection on the BU community.
