The Mole
Today I watched in stunned amazement as a friend of mine killed another friend. It’s been awhile and I’ve always enjoyed the company of my one friend. Stopping by, having a drink or two and certainly enjoying dinner. Today was a bit different though. My other friend… One I rarely have the company of, stopped by. I was surprised by the site of him but really paid it no mind. I went about my business as he stood near my Koi pond and then made his way to one of my bare willows. I grabbed a beer and figured what the heck. The sun is out and if he wants to stand in the sun next to my willow, hey, what a day. The sun was out and there was no wind so I figured it was kind of warm. For the first day of spring it wasn’t bad. For some strange reason my other friend decided to pop on by. I really didn’t even notice but hey that’s what friends do. Heck, this guys been stopping by for some time and scarfing dinner un-announced for a while. The weird part was my other friend… You know the first one…. Was over by the willow tree all nice and warm but then turned around and in a matter of a second, grabbed and killed my other friend. Jesus H!!!! I couldn’t move. I was in shock, stunned….amazed….. I’ve never witnessed this before. It was as if my one friend had eyes in the back of his head because he turned around and killed my other friend before I even knew he stopped by. The wild part was when the bouncer, the guy in the black tux showed up and everybody ran. What a hell of a host. I don’t even know who showed up for dinner. (heck…we were watching Gandhi) PLAYERS: Chipmunk Goshawk Crow (Hell of a job players…. Thanks for nature !) And sometimes a man will allow himself to be killed.... For what? Happy Easter ! Guest Guest
I love how the people on BCVoice are so quick to judge something they don't understand. Comments like "lay off the booze," and talk about magic mushrooms, and then someone thinks you have rage issues??? What the heck are these people talking about?? Thanks for the story mole, I enjoyed it. I would have enjoyed seeing that attack live and in person. @
The Mole
Thanks ! I'm glad somebody got it. I have a few pics. I'll try to get them posted. (btw... I have a not so good vid of another raptor earlier in the day partaking of a snack) The raptor has been feeding here regularly and I was amazed to see his hunting skills. I can only account for the 180 degree move by the fact our power was out and the Koi pond was silent. That allowed for a veritable silence in the area. Basically you could hear a mouse fart and I guess that was the key to the final move. We've been working on keeping the yard natural and I'm actually glad that it is in this state. Come on... How many people get to have this happen in their backyard.
The Mole
Look close in the talons and you'll see the remains of my other friend....chipmonk. Maybe Sleepless could use one of these guys to take care of his monkey problem. LOL !!! If anybody would like the vid drop a message.
The Mole
Another shot.... These were shot through my back kitchen door so if they're not perfect...whatever..... I need to try to get the best one.... What started it all, uploaded.... The raptor in the trees with squirrels all around yet this hunter turned around 180 degrees and took out a chipmunk next to my Koi pond. It's weird but I was wondering if he was really hoping for fish. Oh, I mentioned some guy in tux... Yeah.... A Crow... The only bird I've ever seen really take on a raptor. Yep, every time he heard that crow he moved. Finally, the crow dove at him and off he went carrying his victim (lunch, snack, whatever...still an incredible sight)

The Mole
And ya know.... I'm kind of shocked that nobody picked up on my last few lines. Even a BU student should have caught that providing they were into philosophy, politics, middle eastern studies.... Ah, well.... Even though I was witnessing the incredible nature of nature...... I am not aware of another time of a man giving his life........ And I quote myself.... "And sometimes a man will allow himself to be killed.... For what? Happy Easter ! " If you didn't get it, perhaps you will now. Good night ! @
