The EMS coordinator is notified for any fatality as a result of a MVA, Fire or industrial/farm accident... as well as any incident that may be disturbing of nature to the EMS responders. Also, accidents that involve an EMS vehicle or injury to EMS personnel. You are correct, the PD calls for the coroner and funeral home if needed, but the fatality types listed above get EMS coordinator notification.
