Tazz Posted April 4, 2008 Report Share Posted April 4, 2008 The Otsego County Sheriffs Office is asking for the Press and Public assistance in attempting to locate Leonard C. Bentley white male 84 years old. Mr. Bentley who was reported missing by a family member in the late morning on April 4, 2008. Mr Bentley has dementia and may be disoriented. Mr. Bentley also has a hearing issue and has difficulties in understanding or hearing people. Mr. Bentley may be attempting to hitchhike to the VA Hospital in Albany, NY as he believes he has a medical appointment. The Investigation has developed a lead that has Mr. Bentley was observed walking East on NYS Rte 7 in the area of the Price Chopper Store, it was reported that he was hitchhiking at the time. We are asking the press to distribute this information via news updates, reports by radio or electronically to the public in hopes of generating leads of sightings of IvIr. Bentley or the possibility that he was given a ride by a passing motorist. If anyone has seen Mr. Bentley they are being asked to contact the Otsego County Sheriffs Office at 607-547-4273 immediately. Mr. Bentley was last seen wearing a black winter coat, tan dress slacks, dark brown shoes and a pork pie hat with numerous fishing lures. Mr. Bentley is 5 feet 6 inches tall with hazel eyes, gray hair and weighs approximately 220 lbs. A command post has been established in the Oneonta area. Units form the Otsego County Office of Emergency Services and the New York State Forest Rangers are assisting. No injuries were reported. The sheriff's office had asked the public to help to locate Leonard C. Bentley, 84, a resident of the Melody Village Trailer Park in Oneonta.
