Press & Sun saves ink by printing half a story.

Saturday’s coverage of local varsity baseball:

Union-Endicott pitcher Neil Burchill scattered three hits over six innings and struck out 12 to help lead the Tigers to an 8-1 victory over Johnson City in a Southern Tier Athletic Conference baseball game.

Kris Prikazsky drove in three runs for U-E, and Ryan Quinlivan and Anthony Espe each had three hits.

Did Johnson City send anyone to the game? JC have any hits? Maybe the UE squad donned JC uniforms and played both sides?

* Windsor 15, Seton CC 9: Steve VanOstrand went 2-for-4 with five RBI and also tossed five strong innings in relief as host Windsor beat Seton Catholic Central in a six-inning game called due to darkness.

VanOstrand's three-run double gave Windsor a 12-7 lead in the fourth inning, and he added a two-run single in the Black Knights' three-run fifth inning.

On the mound, VanOstrand allowed just two runs and two hits in five innings in relief of starter Kyle Krause, who allowed seven runs in the first two innings as Seton CC took a 7-4 lead.

Jim Costello had two hits and two RBI and Mike Williams scored three runs for Windsor.

Presumably Seton had a number of hits? Or maybe all errors? Walks? Nine Seton players scored- how did they get there? Maybe it was a virtual game?

Baseball is dying a slow death, just hope you wake up to realize it before it's in the past. Lacrosse is taking over the country and there is nothing your boring lil' sport can do about it. Ex: Vestal over 100 kids in youth lacrosse. I give baseball 5 years before it's extinct.

Idiot...there is always a box score. What are they supposed to do? Write every player with every hit in the write up section itself?

No byline on most local sports stories. Presumably info is sent in by coaches? ADs?

This happens at nearly every newspaper with local sports coverage across the country. You expect anything less? It will get worse.

Do you ever check a linescore or boxscore??????? I suspect you were at one of these games, looking to complain for no reason. And you have a valid complaint, call the sports department.
