Guest Guest
Somebody asked me for some information on how to file a Freedon of Information Request. I have a couple standards forms I'll get you but I do nothave them here. I did find this on-line free service that will asssit anyone n creating a letter. You jus tplug in certain data. It is worrthtaking alook at. http://www.rcfp.org/foi_letter/generate.php THE REPORTERS COMMITTEE FOR FREEDOM OF THE PRESS Submitting an open records request to a state, county or local government office is generally easy -- all you have to do is find the agency holding the records you want, and ask for them. A specific, well-written request will help you avoid delays and further correspondence with a government agency. Because each state's law is different, the prompts here are not nearly as specific as with the federal letter generator. This page will ask you for all pertinent information, but will also give you references to the appropriate sections of our Open Government Guide. The best way to know what should be available to you, and how you can get it, is to spend some time familiarizing yourself with the New York section of that guide.
