Jeers to Tarik Abdelazim, Calvin Stovall and The Press & Sun-Bulletin for collaborating to hoodwink readers into thinking late water payments are a reason for proposing increasing the water rates by 81% (Dec. '06 $1.65 to Aug.'09 $2.99).

The City of Binghamton is in fact making money that the Water Fund should be making by paying the Water Fund in advance from the City's General Fund and then pocketing the late water payments and fees, interest and penalties that arrive with the Broome County collected tax and water payments twice a year.

Editor Calvin Stovall told me about this more than a week ago but he has failed to report it to PSB readers. It has also been confirmed by Broome County officials.

The real reason for the water rate increase is so that Mayor Matthew T. Ryan and Tarik Abdelazim can ‘drawdown” charges from the Water Fund to the City of Binghamton to cover their waste and mismanagement elsewhere. They currently already take about $700,000 a year but that still is not enough to cover their waste and without more money in the Water Fund that cannot continue to do it. They have bled it dry.

A 40% increase in the rate would cover increased expenses in delivering the water and replenish the Water Fund Surplus in two years and generate a surplus every year but not enough for Ryan and Abdelazim to milk it dry without people noticing.

For this reason NYS Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli has been asked to audit the Water Fund and City of Binghamton.

EXACTLY, so why is it that TRUSTEE bruce King in JC does not want an audit? all towns should be audited. Period. JC is hiding something. Bruce King must be in the know. Why would he put up a stink for open and honest government? Maybe his nickels pennies dimes should be accounted for in his own business.

Do you think his nickel and dimes add up anywhere near the millions Ryan and Abdelazim have DELETED away?

what is the difference between a nail in the tire and a blowout? They are both unacceptable.

Maybe that is why King is in private business it doesn't matter if he is just slipping quarters in his back pocket. In my opinion, it would be cheaper for the village to rent vending machines and have the fireman fill them on their way back from the grocery store.

Cal must use the same administrative assistant as Mayor Ryan and City Comptroller John Cox.

You are a clueless idiot Eddy boy. Why don't you give us an example of what's happening then? Use a simple case study, like a $10.00 bill that isn't paid. What happens to it? When are fines assessed? How much? What amount goes over to the County? When? How does the money come back? When? Where does it go?

All you have is rumor and lies. You are an idiot and you make the Mayor look better everyday because you get everybody thinking there is this huge scam and then it turns out you are always SO wrong. So genius, please tell us all of your "confirmed sources" about how this process works. PLEASE PLEASE!! If you don't know, why don't you send a letter to the Mayor asking him to explain the process on one bill. Ask him all the questions above. You wouldn't do that, would you? That would actually solve your delusions. You prefer confusion. Confusion is your empire and you are King A.
