Section 4 soccer

Who said that soccer is weak in section 4? Maine-Endwell blows out New Paltz 3-0, Lansing RUNS OVER thier opponent, Sus Valley wins against Westhill, Corning plays well and loses 0-1, and Marathon falls out on PKs in a very cometitive match. We'll have 3 teams in the STATE FINAL FOUR next weekend and the STAC teams all lost at least 3 regular season matches showing that the section isn't a one team show. That's a fantastic showing and the section should be proud.

M-E is not in the Final Four yet they have a very tough game coming up on Tuesday to try and get there. Port Chester is a strong team and should not be overlooked. That being said we can't discount the turmoil downstate in play downs right now there is so much chaos for the teams just tryin to squeeze in enough games to qualify for the Final Four.

Plus don't forget to factor in one thing that most of Section 4 isn't dealing with but a majority of the state is. A good deal of top players are no longer in HS soccer in Syracuse, Buffalo, Rochester, Albany or LI. They have been forced to quit to focus on their Academy teams training year round. Binghamton has been one of the least effected areas in this regard. I know one traditional power in Albany that lost 4 starters from last year and 2 more kids that would have started this season to that issue. Tough to stay strong when you lose more than half of your projected starters.

M-E is out, they played a good game but as was their trouble most of the year just couldn't get enough offense. 1-0 loss to Port Chester is a great showing for them.

SV and Lansing are the final two left alive and Lansing at least avoids Port Jeff until the final this year, thats the only team to beat them last season so could easily be a title game run for them. Lansing is on a two year run that is as dominate as we have seen in Sect 4. The team is solid and has some good coaching as well. SV looks to have a tough draw with the Crane team from Albany, not sure if they get to the final or not. I'd love to see Rood put on a display so that he gets the recognition he deserves, one of the best players I have ever seen in this area.
