Has Merry Harris actually accomplished anything in the area of economic development? She'll probably claim credit for the University downtown center project, but in reality, that was in the works while she was working at Kay Jewelers before joining the Matt Ryan circus sideshow.

And he drives limo too. Does he DJ or make wedding cakes? He could be one stop shop for all your wedding needs.

Mick is like the family from the Hey Mon! sketch on "In Living Color" - he has 8 jobs.

Merry Harris

Where to start.

First of all, she did not work at a hardware store. She worked for a TOOL Company. Harris Tool Comapny to be exact and this can be found by looking into her past.

Second, Merry Harris was a Human Resource Manager for Harris Tool Company. Title Only as she was never around when she was needed and she was always a "yes" person, but then nothing has changed has it?

Third, Merry Harris has done a lot for Binghamton. She got flower pots set up ( but if you look at the "weeds" she picks them herself to use) and she also got a couple "Awning" put up.

Yep, she has done a lot in her life. Her Husband is the same Lawyer that represented the "great" Mayor Ryan.

So you add 1 and 1 and now you know how she got the job she now has.

What a joke.

Dont you just hate political appointments? Wouldn't it be nice if they hired competent people and people who actually had some experience. The only good thing about political appointments is when he goes he takes all his flunkies with him.

That can't be true. Ryan was all about ending cronyism.

The latest candidate for successful "economic partnership" seems to be the City's new "hot lunch" program, see:

<http://www.cityofbinghamton.com/viewarticle.asp?a=2774>

Looks like the City (and Mrs. Harris) are taking credit for something BU interns mostly did for themselves.

But, now we learn where the downtown area's three "economic hot spots" are (not to be confused with wi-fi hotspots).

Will this program lead to a wave of new hirings by these restaurants? A "spin off effect" spurred by increased food, beverage and supply purchases from local suppliers? Time will tell.

Won't this program cause the restaurants to raise prices for everyone else? Seems that would have a negative effect on the downtown area.

Bon appetite!
