Again you seem very confused.

"All those Republicans???"

Where are they?

The County Executive is a Democrat.

The Mayor of Binghamton is a Democrat.

The County Legislature is composed of about 15 Democrats and 1 or 2 Republicans.

The City Council is all composed of 7 Democrats.

The NYS Assemblwoman is a Democrat.

Our Congressman is a Democrat.

the Goverrnonr, Democrat.

US Senators, Democrats.

This seems to disprove your theory wouldn't you say?

There why your taxes are rising along with crime. Keep voting for Democrats and Citizne Action/Working Families candidates you will get more taxes and crime. Wallow it in.

NYS is one of the most Democratic states in the country. It is also the worst place to do buinses in the country and pays the most tax and utility costs.

Right about now would be a really good time to visit the Riverwalk and see what a wonderful project it truly is!!!!

I'm too busy working my two jobs to pay for my increased city taxes to go take a stroll somewhere I don't feel safe.

My water/sewer bill alone increased 260% in a year, with the same useage.

Guest the optimist
And don't forget to take it in after a few days of rain and spring thaw when the River is 8 to 10 feet over the walk. Don't walk on it at night because you might step on a used syringe. On those gray days the gang members in their colors add some life to otherwise dreary scenery..

Thank you for your predictable, exaggerated negative post Ed. No wonder everyone calls you a moron.

Yeah that's the answer....have more productive taxpaying people leave...that's just what the city needs...that way we can replace them with more sex offenders, mental patients, welfare recipients and homeless people.

THOUSANDS upon THOUSANDS of people have already left the city....the city continues to lose assessed property values and more and more properties come off the tax rolls almost daily as the government funded, non-profit infrastructure expands to accommodate the city's newest arrivals and their every entitlement need.

THOUSAND upon THOUSANDS of people didn't leave because we didn't have a riverwalk...they left because the city bonded itself to the point of insolvency and raised taxes in order to pay for useless projects like the riverwalk.

Meanwhile, the city's housing stock deteriorates, drug dealing and crime increases, the roads continue to crumble and the trash blows with abandon through our streets.

Yeah..if only more people could forget all that, concentrate on parades and fireworks and stroll on the riverwalk while thinking proper, happy thoughts...all would be right in the Parlor City.

You really are a fool.

No, sweetheart, it's YOU who is the fool. Go live your negative life, hope you enjoy it. I'll wager your cup is always half empty for one reason or another, and none of it is EVER your fault. loser. You are so not worth bothering about, typical uneducated bingo loser. Thank god you are in the minority.

In effort to support and show solidarity for Mayor Matt Ryan's $1,600,000 plan to extend the Riverwalk into the North Side, a rally is being planned on the existing section of the Riverwalk tonight.

Mary Clark and all her Citizen Action members are invited down to the Riverwalk to attend the rally. Bring all your friends.

The more Citizen Action people that come out to stand with thier mayor and Mary Clark, the better.

Let's keep the change happening.

The best place to access the Riverwalk is the staircase just north of the Court Street Bridge behind Boscov's, shown here:

Have a good time

You truly are pathetic. Do you know what that means?

Guest take a look at other towns
No, could you explain.

Some would say spending money on a project that is flooded four or five times a year for days at a time is pathetic.

No, pathetic is not comprehending what can be done with a flood plain. Cincinatti has many retail businesses that are built with the expectation of flooding (in the flood zone, duh). It is truly possible when forward thinking, educated people run the ship. It's a tough row to hoe in this one horse town where only the dimwits speak up. River areas in many towns are a huge source of income - and even bring tourists to the area to enjoy various functions scheduled throughout the year. I can only wish Binghamton would be so lucky, but because of naysayers like you, good ideas never get off the ground. Don't worry, you are safe, you can continue to complain until eternity because the Riverwalk will never happen. Thanks for trashing another good idea before it had a chance, loser.

Do you know anything of the history of the river in Binghamton?

The early founders of the city turned their back on the river here and built a canal. Commerce was done on and around the canal. That is why much of town has its back to the river, unlike other areas where the cities face the river.

The river here has limited recreational uses and its not much to look at in the immediate vicinty of the city.

How many millions of dollar of limited resources do you want to spend when the money could be so much better spent elsewhere.
