The biggest mistake the Church made was allowing Homosexuals into Seminary, believing they could keep their perverted desires in check. That is not pedophilia which is toward pre-pubescent youths only and does not include teenagers. So, by definition, it is a homosexual related scandal, which is different from consensual homosexual practices which infects some of the priesthood. The common factor between the two is this: They BOTH create scandal within the Church. Those participants, the predator as well as those practicing homosexual priests, need to be driven out of the priesthood. When years ago the Church decided to become PC the public announcement was made from the Vatican that discrimination was wrong. The decision said that the sexual proclivity of acolytes would no longer be a factor as long as they went by the standards of the Church. Homosexuals applied and were accepted. Had your kids been 12 years and a few days old and been sodomized and molested by some DELETED, homosexual priest you can bet you wouldn't be splitting hairs and relying on semanitics to rationalize sex crimes by all those priests. I doubt the victims, their Moms, Dads and current spouses care whether they were over that magical line of 12 years old. I can tell you that I was molested by a school teacher from when I was 11 till I was 16. It didn't become ok or completely different the day I turned 12. He stated that there was a scandal brewing in the Catholic Church in the US that would rock it to its core. He said that in the 60s, the number of men going into the priesthood was decreasing. In order to keep the numbers up, the church decided that they would allow homosexuals into the priesthood. Their reasoning was that since a priest had to be celibate, what did it matter if the priest was heterosexual of homosexual. Hence the beginning of the problem. The vast majority of cases do not fit into this category. I am simply calling it what it is: You people are confused. There are two different scandals that are going on in the CC. These infect ALL DIFFERENT FAITHS by the way. 1.) Priests who practice homosexuality with consenting adults. They need to be tossed out of the priesthood. 2.) Priests that go after minors need to be tossed out of the priesthood and go to jail.. Both are terrible scandals. Marriage does not fix these people as some people think.
