The American Way?

The New American Way; Yes ladies and gentlemen, we have reached the point at which personal rights, beliefs, and thoughts have become so politically correct that the rights of one person will always prevail over the rights of the majority. How ironic this is, in a democratic nation in which law and order is still set forth by a vote, and the victors are the many.

actually, i agree with you, but factually you are incorrect. the constitution states we live in a republic, which is different than a democracy. a republic protects the rights of both the majority and the minority. it is not mob rules. imagine if the majority of americans decided that anyone named hunter would be deported. you are protected by the constitution. it would be a violation of your civil rights even though the majority of people wanted it.

that being said, it seems today there is a fuzzy line between what certain rights are. just because you are offended doesn't neccassarily mean your rights have been violated. you are protected against voilence, threats, and slurs of any kind. also, decency laws (porno) apply. but someone else has the right to voice their opinion and as long as it doesn't violate someone's rights, that's too bad if it offends them.
