The worst thing George Bush has done to Binghamton was creating an environment that allowed Matthew T. Ryan to get elected.

Ryan should be Bush's biggest fan. Without Bush Ryan would never have been elected.

GWB had a Rep. Congress for 6 years.

You Bushbots conveniently keep forgetting that.

And you conveniently forget to mention that since January 1, 2007 the congress has been controlled by Democrats. They can reduce funding for the war and end it in months.

Why haven't they done that?

Mabey the funding is being cut because of the improper use of the VISTA program for political purposes by Citizen Action. Republicans and real Democrats would agree that giving taxpayer's money to a third party campaining against them is a bad idea. Imagine that - something for Republicans and Democrats to agree on ... Citizen Action is no good! It is a shame that politics has to ruin what could have been a positive program for the city.

Some blinded Binghamtonites keep forgetting that this has been happening in Binghamton during the past 3 to 4 years.

More river walks, more wifi, more taxes (businesses and homeowners), more potholes, more crime, higher water bills, collapsing buildings/parking ramps, and getting into the hotel business are a few "accomplishments".

Binghamton IS showing the world that it means business.

Restoring the pride.

Maybe we could have a commission to for a new assembly to have a meeting to discuss it. Then afterwards have a parade with some fireworks.

The usual all talk, no action by the powers that be. No one should be surprised.

What did Bush cut that's hurting us so badly?

There's a Democrat congress. I don't recall any budget vetoes recently.

I think the Bush war excuse is convenient but inaccurate.

VA benefits for one - education for another and pre-school for yet another. Health care for our seniors - money cut to fight terrorism

just to name a few.

That's not true - spending on those items has increased each year of bush's term. You're falling for the old " We wanted a 20% increase, but we only got 10%, so it's a cut"

Even if he had cut those items you mentioned, they don't apply to our Vista's. And, the cuts would have come from the Democratic congress - since we have no line-item veto available.

You suffer from Circular thinking.

You keep posting the same dull question repeatedly and getting an answer.

Stop the trolling.

It's gonna take more than just a few months to clean the enormous global mess that GWB has made.

I see now he's flip flopping his position on global warming and emissions.

Nice.

He must got tired of having a 30% approval rating. With the economy tanking, he's scrambling to do something that will keep his ratings in the double digit range.

I heard on the radio that new home starts nationwide are down to the lowest they've been in 17 years.

The more the economy tanks, the worse the Decider in Chief's ratings will sink.

What a waste of 8 perfectly good years. We could have done so much here in the US with all that money he's poured down that sinkhole in Iraq.

agreed. I was (and am) all for the war in Afghanistan. Those people were responsible for attcking us. We should have been fighting terrorism and not fighting in Iraq, a country that had nothing to do with 911 or terrorism - nothing to do with alqida. I would not even be opposed to going into western Pakistan and routing out those mother DELETED - but the $$ for Iraq were a waste

Oh, kinda like the mayor improperly using his position for political purposes such as promoting the homosexual agenda, bashing the president, and etc?

Good idea, maybe we should pull his funding. Oh wait I did. By moving out of the City.

What no one will tell you is although the VISTA program is successful in actually helping people in other areas, in Binghamton the program is a joke. It is not Bush's fault. It is that Ryan hired the wrong people to manage the local program!

The local VISTA program is totally mismanged by cronies of Ryan who the administration cannot demote due to 'political' reasons. These people have no idea what they are doing.

Do not blame the volunteers. They are frustrated. They gave up a year of their lives thinking it would not be "giving up" something but giving back. They were duped. These volunteers have not even begun to receive the training they need to get to work and the year is almost up!

Yeah, poor VISTAs like Stephen Schweitzer. Is he locked away yet in Georgia?

It is easier to blame bush than rub two brain cells together.

Doesn't the rubbing require that someone have two active, functioning cells to begin with?
