For those who have been following The Biggest Loser, on last nights finale they briefly mentioned Paul being sick.

Turns out he's been VERY sick since we last saw him when everyone weighed in to see who would be back in the game.

Below is a post from the admin of the official Biggest Loser message-board:

A few people who know Paul personally have shared some of his health struggles with us. It must have been sad for him to have missed the finale last night, but here are two updates on his condition:

About Paul. He has been very sick. One day after being released from a week in the hospital with pneumonia, he had his appendix removed and 6-9 inches of his colon and a colostomy. 8 days later he had another surgery to remove a blood clot and unkink his intestines. So one month later the colostomy goes bad and he is again in surgery #3 to return his colon back to normal. While in the hospital, an infection has taken over his body and has had surgery #4 and #5 to help pump out the infection. Needless to say, he has been in the hospital for 3 weeks this time. He is on his way to recovery and may come home this week. It was real hard for him not to be at the finale. He loves Kelly dearly. That will never change. He would have loved to have been there to be by her side.

Paul has been in the hospital since Feb 5th of this year. I was so glad that they decided to say something about him. Paul has been fighting for his life the past month and a half. We are so hoping that he will get to come home soon and get started on his new life. He has lost a LOT of weight, and is looking really good. We are hoping that he will soon be able to get back to work, however at this point his job has been filled, but they are hoping to be able to put him in another position when he gets back on his feet. It has been a long haul for him, and by the grace of God he seems to have pulled through all 5 of his surgeries and other things that have happened. But thank goodness for Kelly wanting to go on the show, if he had not of lost the weight he had the doctor's said he probably would have passed away. So he is living proof that losing weight will help you live longer. His spirits are high, or they were until the show last night. I have not talked to him yet today to see how he is doing but I am sure he is very proud of all the people from the show. So please keep Paul in your thoughts and prayers as he travels the road to recovery.

You have to wonder how safe the show really is. Could his rapid weight loss have led to any of the health problems that developed after leaving the ranch? Then there was the stress fracture that Mark had earlier in the show, and now Kelly has hurt her back. Yes losing weight is good, but it should be done slowly. It should not be done at the cost of causing harm, such as the prior mentioned injuries.
