what kind of classic car would anyone prefer to drive if given a classic car for your birthday gift?

Just as a matter of information to distinguish between "antique", "vintage", "muscle" , "street rod" or several collector car classifications. The local media has misrepresented any car of interest as a "classic" . This is not correct.

The following is the correct definition of a classic automobile.

Classic Car Cub of America is dedicated to the collecting, preservation and enjoyment of the world's finest automobiles which were manufactured from 1925* through 1948.

Usually the cars recognized as "CCCA Classics" were built in limited production numbers and were quite expensive when new.

As a group, they represent the pinnacle of engineering, styling and design for their era.

"What exactly is a Classic Car?" The Club defines CCCA Classics or Full Classic™ Cars as "...fine or unusual motor cars which were built between and including the years 1925 to 1948. (Some cars built prior to 1925 that are virtually identical to a 1925 model that is recognized by the Club are currently being accepted on a "Please Apply" basis). All of these are very special cars which are distinguished by their respective fine design, high engineering standards and superior workmanship." They were usually quite expensive when new with relatively low production figures. You won't find your Mom's '72 Plymouth Duster or your Grandfather's Model A Ford in the ranks of CCCA. We applaud other clubs who do recognize these cars and recognize that owning one can be a lot of fun, but they are not what is truly defined or rated a Classic car.

There is no iron clad definition of what is or isn’t a “classic car”. Whether it’s a 1932 Ford 3 Window Custom Coupe, a 1957 Chevrolet, 1972 Dodge Challenger R/T or a 1979 Volkswagen Beetle; someone will feel that it’s noteworthy and worth remembering – in other words, a classic.

That is a 1972 Dodge Challenger R/T. In the begining of Sept. 1973 Gas was .37 cents/gallon. Then the Arab Oil Embargo of 1973 hit and there was a shortage of gasoline. That was the end of cheap gasoline and heating oil.
