Guest BC VOICE Reporter II
VIEWPOINTS Posted Saturday April 19, 2008 BCVOICE Viewpoints Cheers & jeers CHEERS to Garo Kachadourian, owner of BCVOICE for calling an open public meeting Thursday night at the American Legion on Robinson Street on Binghamton's East Side to finally raise the issues and awareness regarding the outrageous water increases being forced down residents’ throats by Matthew T. Ryan. The meeting which went completely unreported in The Press & Sun-Bulletin newspaper was bipartisan, civil, orderly, informative and productive. JEERS to Binghamton Mayor Matthew T. Ryan for yelling at Binghamton Plaza owners, Galesi Realty Corp., who were kind enough to appear at The North Side Neighborhood Assembly the same night to discuss a grocery store and listen to Mayor Ryan's abuse. Do you understand now why there is no north side grocery store, why the deals for The Binghamton Regency Hotel, for the O'Neil Building development, for possibly locating a Wal-Mart in Binghamton all fell through? It is because Mayor Hothead Ryan, who never made a dime, never closed a business deal, employed anybody or managed anything in his life prior to being elected thinks he can tell developers how much they should make on their investment. JEERS to The Press & Sun-Bulletin for failing to report on the results of either meeting, once again doing a great disservice to its readers and abdicating its civic responsibility. Reverse carpetbagger Executive Editor Calvin Stovall is a discredit to our newspaper, his profession and failing the Greater Binghamton community with his biased and unfair news censorship. Mr. Stovall should consider boarding the next Short-line bus out of town to the next third-rate Gannett publication that will have him.

Guest Guest
Why do you lie? There were about 25 to 30 people there including two TV news crews at the AmericnaaLegion. Immediate, bipartisan action was taken, a televised, city-wide town hall meeting at City Chambers will be the next event. Do you have any excuses for Matthew T. Ryan yelling at the Binghamton Plaza owners? Was that productive?
2pelo Honey
I'd certainly like to hear DETAILS of what happened, to make up my own mind. I was told by someone handing out flyers about the Plaza meeting that one store was all set to sign a lease, and the Plaza owners asked for 3% of their profits...at the last minute. @
Guest Guest
Here are more results: Here is the News10Now coverage of the follow up to the Americna Legion meeting. Note Mayor Matthew T. Ryan says he will agree to a meeting at City Hall by citizens if a formal request is made. Formal requests have been made. Let's see if Mayor Ryan keeps his word: http://news10now.com/content/all_news/1144...te/Default.aspx So we have WBNG, NewsChannel34 , News 10 Now all following this topic but nothing from The Press & Sun-Bulletin. That's Executive Editor Calvin Stovall in action. It is the same type of censorship and covering up he did to get Matther T. Ryan elected in the first place. To this day Stovall has never publsihed a word of Ryan's arrests, conviction and police incident of harassing and abusing women (at least four or five such incidents, all swept under Stovall's rug). Stovall is duplicitous in the whitewash going on at City hall. He has yet to explain that the water rate increase, totalling 81% from the time Ryan got into office to August 2009, as proposed, not 30% as they have ben reporting, will create a surplus of $1,400,000 to $2,230,000 PER YEAR! Publisher Sherman Bodner and Gannett should send this Stovall packing. He has no ties to this community and has undermined its fabric since arriving about two years ago. Advertisiers should seek alternatives if Mr. Stovall is going to continue to skew the news here. Come advertise on BCVOICE it has more views than Pressconnects.com anyway and is much less expensive. @
