Why are the "@" (at or at the cost of) symbols appearing at the bottom of so many posts?

Due to the protest here in town yesterday and in concurrance with the protest in DC today where some of the same faces were caught on camera, the FBI is monitoring the board. The "@" denotes a post that has been or is bring reviewed.

I, too, am only going by the raw video.

Thanks to whoever posted the link to it.

What's instructive is that the video is capturing events prior to the eruption and it appears that the protesters were, indeed, walking peacefully and - as demonstrators are SUPPOSED to do - disrupting the regular flow of life (it's called getting people's attention - that's why you protest - to get the lethargic sheeple to wake up!). It also appears that the group was just about to turn the corner onto Plaza Drive and would have been off the parkway in just a few minutes...and onto the recruiting station.

In my opinion, several of the police officers (a couple in particular with that "intimidating" Mr. Clean wannabe look - the shaved heads and Michael Chiklis mugs) overreacted to escalate the situation. I didn't see any students "pushing" or "punching" police officers, but I sure saw a couple of those officers pretending they were filming an episode of The Shield, pushing young kids around.

Those police officers should face disciplinary action.

We live in a free society with the constitutional right to peacefully assemble along with the OBLIGATION to protest what we feel are wrongs being perpetrated by the government.

It doesn't say in the constitution that you have a right to peacefully assemble EXCEPT when it causes inconvenience to motorists on the Vestal Parkway.

I fully support the university kids and I think the police who suddenly showed up like cockroaches ought to be ashamed of their actions. Ever try getting a cop to your house to answer a complaint? Takes 'em forever - but in this situation seems they were willing to drop whatever they were doing to outnumber a few dozen peaceful protesters.

Ironic the protesters were yelling against a war in Iraq that our beloved smirking chimp in a business suit claims is intended to "spread democracy" in the middle east, yet here in the states, if 60 university students want to exercise their constitutional rights to protest that war, the taxpayer-funded police clamp down hard and spray them with mace.

If you look at the raw video closely you will see some of the "peaceful" protesters wearing masks. Masks to me mean, I'm gonna do something I don't want to be seen doing. ie. bank robber, person about to behead someone, convienence store bandit, rapist, hoodlum, criminal. You get the picture.

One of the most important things that was unfortunately missed in the "raw footage" was the actions of the first guy who got arrested, the guy with the backpack, he turned around and ran at the police car causing the officer to have to stop suddenly. Sure they were going slow, that's not the issue. The issue is this, plain and simple, the protesters overstepped their boundries the second they stepped onto the Parkway. However, the police still let them walk on the road, breaking the law. Concessions were made by the police and the marchers were actually being given an escort to ensure their safety. All they had to do was one simple thing, stay in the right lane. They immediately ignored that request and did whatever they wanted, chanting, "It's our street or we own the road", something to that effect. Even after this blatant challenge to the police they were still allowed to continue walking and block traffic. They would have made it to the Plaza if it wasn't for one simple fact, the guy in the street confronted the police car and the officer finally decided that he had bent far enough. Long after he could have arrested this guy did he finally have enough. That's when the others decided to get there shots in. Did you see the girl who smacked the cop in the back with a sign? If any "innocent" bystanders got a little pepper spray on them they only have their friends to blame and no one else. Pepper spray isnt an exact science, there will be some drifting in the air. Take solace in the fact that it contains only natural ingredients!!

Unfortunate you say...... they all should be tossed out of school, no respect for our police officers. To see them get out of jail all smiles give me a break. Kick them all out of school .....oh they have rights bullcrap, give our police who protect you respect.

They won't get kicked out..their rich parents will sue the cops..brats..none of these people in the WAR were drafted..they volunteered.. A lot different then the vietnam war was..they were made to go to WAR.
