Looking for a good christian church

AFC, it's done & dusted already. The CC was more concerned about challenge to its authority than about anything even remotely approaching Truth.

When you got a guy that can't prove his theories while mocking the pope while only half right is a joke.

He was able to disprove geocentrism... the official position of the CC... Just because the CC was slow to accept this doesn't make it any less so.

He was have right in his theories and demand the Church to accept them, even the false theories. NO.

Perhaps he should have only half mocked him?

Anyway, in what way did he "mock" the Pope?

Look it up, smart DELETED . Galileo was a fool. He made fun of the person he was trying to persuade. TOOL.

Take a look at how they acted (or rather, didn't act) during WWII, and then what they did afterwards to protect fleeing Nazis. It's not like a secret or something.

Galileo was not 100% correct in his THEORIES. Mocking the Pope, the very person he was trying to persuade, couldn't possibly get him any brownie points, either.

What scientist who makes major breakthroughs in advancing science is correct 100% of the time?

Was Einstein? Newton?

I'd guess he mocked the Pope because many Popes back then were hedonistic idiots who held wine-sotted orgies, looted church funds and knocked up teenage girls left and right.

How can you convince an idiot of anything? What recourse do you have left when you know you're enormously smarter than someone like that?

It is "amazing" that the CC's Apostolic Successor was petty enough to allow some slight to stifle science. The CC has and still is holding up scientific progress.

Show me how non-Catholic Christians acted. LOL.

No matter how bad some people acted in the CC (not including the WWII Pope), you can never take away it's Divine Foundation and for this reason alone I will never leave it.

"The Israeli consul, Pinchas E. Lapide, in his book, Three Popes and the Jews (New York: Hawthorn Books, Inc., 1967) critically examines Pope Pius XII. According to his research, the Catholic Church under Pius XII was instrumental in saving 860,000 Jews from Nazi death camps (p. 214). Could Pius have saved more lives by speaking out more forcefully? According to Lapide, the concentration camp prisoners did not want Pius to speak out openly (p. 247). As one jurist from the Nuremberg Trials said on WNBC in New York (Feb. 28, 1964), "Any words of Pius XII, directed against a madman like Hitler, would have brought on an even worse catastrophe... [and] accelerated the massacre of Jews and priests." (Ibid.) Yet Pius was not totally silent either. Lapide notes a book by the Jewish historian, Jenoe Levai, entitled, The Church Did Not Keep Silent (p. 256). He admits that everyone, including himself, could have done more. If we condemn Pius, then justice would demand condemning everyone else. He concludes by quoting from the Talmud that "whosoever preserves one life, it is accounted to him by Scripture as if he had preserved a whole world." With this he claims that Pius XII deserves a memorial forest of 860,000 trees in the Judean hills (pp. 268-9). It should be noted that six million Jews and three million Catholics were killed in the Holocaust."

How many Catholic Priests did Hitler kill? Hmmmm......

"Other people did it, so it's ok."

That's pretty much how Nazis were indoctrinated into the fold in the 30's and 40's.

I'm talking about the Administrational hierarchy of the CC directly assisting Nazis who were hiding and fleeing after they lost.

What other organized religious groups committed the same acts on the same scale as the CC?

They should have arrested the Pope and banished the Church forever.

Many Nazis could not have fled to South America without the CC's help.

If its foundation was that 'Divine' then it failed dismally on that occasion and others. After all, doesn't all CC church behavior spring from its foundation? If not, then what's it there for? All power and no responsibility? ;)

Free will. Those who fail to live up to what is expected of them will have to answer for that, especially those that have been chosen to be in charge.

Name one other church that saved 860,000 Jews without a single rifle? Not a one. End of story.

Maybe the Church doesn't believe in Capitol Punishment in practice?

Maybe the Church doesn't believe in the Jewish Hit Squads that murdered every SS person they came across throughout Europe?

Yes, but how much did it cost them? I can't imagine how much the Catholic Church charges to save Jews. Maybe that's how they got so rich.

Idiot. The Jews refused to believe in Christ, yet the Lord's Church saved 860,000 of them besides.

The CC is 2,000 years old. IF it is does not have clout through all those years of donations, then all those accountants should be fired right away.

Idiot? Do you know how much they can charge for an annulment? Tens of thousands of dollars!

It was a valid question.

The Jews are the best authority on their religion. According to them, Jesus was a heretic and did not meet the requirements of their Messiah.

Idiot?

Yep. A person that expects something for nothing.

Never that high. They ask for a donation to help defer the costs for the investigation of the person's failed marriage. The CC has to pay people to do all the leg work. Why should the person in the pew next to that person pay for that person's mistake?

It was a valid question.

Not at all. You don't have to pay a dime if you cannot afford it. Other people would carry the weight.
