However, his team underperformed wildly all year long and even though he kept them around and made for a great story you can't rip the MVP from the 1st Triple Crown Winner since 1967. 27 Time World Champions Posted October 6, 2012 Report Share Posted October 6, 2012 If you look at all the categories, Cabrera wins hands down....not only does he lead in the triple crown categories but also in Slugging, On Base plus Slugging, Total Bases and Extra Base Hits. And he is second in Intentional Base on Balls, Hits and Runs. And he is top three in all the main defensive categories for third basemen. Trout, despite his highlight reel catches, is no better than 5th in PCT and RF amongst all AL CFs. And he is 8th and 16th in the other main categories, while ending up 10th in total chances by all CFs. Detroit is in the playoffs and the Angels are not......Cabrera is the MVP. Cabrera also answers the question as to why a fat guy like Babe Ruth was able to do what he did. Ruth's pitching numbers are still a mystery.
