Guest Guest
Umm... your fridge. Cut up some chicken breasts into bite size pieces. Marinade in Italian dressing for about a day or so. Grill chicken until desired doneness is achieved. Serve on folded Italian bread. Your welcome.

Guest Guest_The Mole_*
This thread always comes up. Here's an all purpose marinade. I've used it and I've made better but this will get you started. DO NOT DO THE ITALIAN DRESSING THING !!! They vary and some taste like crap ! Spiedie Marinade 6 cloves garlic minced 1 Tbsp basil 1 Tbsp black pepper 1 Tbsp oregano 1 Tbsp parsley 1 Tbsp salt 2 Tbsp lemon juice 1 1/2 cup vegetable oil or light olive oil 1/2 cup vinegar (white or light wine vinegar) Mix all the ingredients in a large bowl. Add cubed meat. Cover and refrigerate overnight or longer. Put meat on skewers and cook over hot coals. Enjoy !

The Mole
Typical... I post without logging in. Anyway if you want more recipes I have a bunch. I hate to see people spend good money buying bottled stuff when they can put together the stuff at home. Here's another great one for chicken. CORNELL BARBECUE SAUCE (marinade) INGREDIENTS * 2 cups vinegar * 1 cup oil * 1 egg * 1 Tablespoon Poultry Seasoning * 3 Tablespoons salt (or to taste) * Pepper to taste Put Ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. Marinade chicken a couple days. Cook over hot coals but be ready for lots of smoke. Keep a water bottle handy. This stuff *IS* the best. I tried cubed chicken in this but it's best for halves, breasts, thighs. This will get the neighbors talking !!! Good luck !

The Mole
The Cornell marinade is not a speidie marinade. It is a chicken marinade but one you should recognize if you've ever attended fairs or firemen field days. It's pretty popular for chicken halves. One thing I do different is that I parboil the chicken then pour the sauce on while the chicken is hot. Put it in the refrigerator and as it cools it sucks the marinade right in to the bone! bloodthirst
My father-in-law makes his own speedies and I have yet to have anything that compares to them. So I must agree that the best are home made.
Guest Guest
Yeah, why buy the locally made stuff when you can make it yourself. Besides, they can shut down their factory and put their workers on unemployment so they can make their stuff at home too. Good thinking The Mole Moron! 2pelo Honey
Love the Cornell Sauce, Mole...had it often growing up. My Mom's recipe, though, had 2 eggs and 2 tbs of salt. I also kicked it up a few times w/ some Frank's Hot Sauce. We came to the conclusion that 2 nights in the marinade was about perfect. It is also REALLY good w/ wings. Guest Guest
The Mint. That's the ticket. maybe add an egg to the first recipe - not the Cornell on but speeedies are what they are and we need as a community to make them Ours. Not Ithaca's. Know what our are posting

Sleepless in Hillcrest
Come on Sleepless... She was just kickin it up a notch !!!! Nah, I ain't kidding, I'm a regular there. Believe me, I'm far from being a complainer, but she was hacking and her nose was running, all the while she was cooking my food. I finally said something to one of the other girls and they had her wash her hands. I think if any of the owners had been there, they would have sent her home. BTW, they are good people, and like I said I'm a regular. Ya got me thinking about a pork spiedie sub for lunch from there!

Yes, Upper Front Street, and don't get me wrong, I'm still a regular there and love the place. I'm headed over shortly for a pork spiedie sub. I got lunch there everyday when I worked at Grossman's out back. No, this was a particular episode on a Friday night that concerned me enough to say something. I know some of the boys in there, that remember when my son, when he played basketball at CV. They're all good kids. This girl should have been just sent home. Back to the subject, ya got the best spiedies hands down!!!
