I got it. You are one of those people who accuses others of having their same affliction to make yourself feel better. How is that working for you? At the end of the day you are still a failure with nothing intelligent to add to any discussion. Good thing you got to pick of your monthly welfare check. You are welcome.

Someone just forwarded this to me...Chilling.

"We must close union offices, confiscate their money and put their leaders in prison. We must reduce workers salaries and take away their right to strike."~Adolph Hitler, May 2, 1933

So are you comparing Hitler to Franklin Delano Roosevelt Bee?

Hitler was also a vegetarian and an animal rights proponent. So clearly then those are wrong as well, right? If he supported something then it must have been wrong. Or is only selectively that we make the comparison?

So you were fine with Obama making light of the special olympics on national television, but you condemn any "pejorative" use of the word "retard". Right? It wouldn't happen to have anything to do with party affiliation would it?

While not crazy, both of those ideas are pretty stupid too.

Damn right! I pick and choose what our country's founders were saying when they drafted the Constitution of the US, and that was many years before FDR. As far as any programs FDR initiated in his four terms as president, they have no bearing on this thread. The subject of this thread pertains to collective bargaining in the teachers unions, which FDR (who in the opinion of many liberals was the greatest president ever) believed would be bad for our country and would lead to massive corruption. And he was right.

Tom would prefer to be spoon fed bits and pieces that align themselves with his political ideology instead of reading the whole story.

FDR was not against public unions (in 1937) but against strikes by public employee unions.

Check out the following site, it includes the entire letter rather than sentences out of context.

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2011/02/21/948033/-Wisconsin:GOP-Lying-About-FDR-Again

All Government employees should realize that the process of collective bargaining, as usually understood, cannot be transplanted into the public service. It has its distinct and insurmountable limitations when applied to public personnel management.

What was the proper context of that sentence again?

FDR didn't support the collective bargaining in the public sector as its implemented in the private sector, regardless of whether FDR was for or against public unions striking.

It has to do with my personal relationships with many persons with cognitive challenges and their parents. The "R" word is as rotten and hurtful as is "cripple", "spaz" and so on...You may be throwing that term around without grasping the pain it causes some. Some things are not funny, you see? Coincidentally, a dear friend who has a son with Down Syndrome posted this message on FB, yesterday.

"Today marks the campaign to end the r word. Think before you speak, please. If you're about to call something retarded, picture my child with that word. Is that what you mean to do - insult someone who had no control over how they were born? You say "I don't mean it that way"? Then please - don't USE it that way. Let's obliterate the misuse of the r word starting today".

If you read the beginning you see that the letter in response to a public employee resolution against strikes by public employees.

You see the section "collective bargaining, as usually understood," That means the use of strikes.
