Maine Endwell School Board

Guest Disgusted Taxpayer

First of all, all residents that have students in school should have to pay an additional $250 per child in local school taxes per year. Second, if your child is not passing and it is determined by a unbiased panel of parents that the student and parents of that student are not doing everything they can to maximize their kids ability, they lose their child tax credit on their federal tax return. The revenue generated from these 2 ideas would do a ton to solve the school budget issues nation wide, not to mention that student acheivement would increase when mommy and daddy's taxes will go up if little Johnny or Jane are not maximizing their effort?

"We don't spend too much. You

just don't pay enough (snicker)"

25 vacation days+ 12 paid holidays= 37 days off ! Well, it's not the whole summer but it's close.

When will ever find he time to look for the missing 4 million?

Clue: It may be buried under the pool in he new Aquatic Center or near the 2 million dollar stairway to heaven.

(4) Holidays – The Superintendent shall be entitled to the following 12 paid holidays each school year, which shall not be cumulative:

Fourth of July Thanksgiving and Day After

Labor Day Columbus Day

Veterans’ Day Martin Luther King Day

Christmas Day Good Friday

President’s Day New Year’s Day

Memorial Day

Only 4 football teams remain in the quest for the ultimate championship. And one of them is the Maine-Endwell Spartans.

The Class B New York State champions are one of the finalists in the USA Today People's Champion national online voting contest. The competition began on January 7th with 64 schools and, so far, M-E has advanced through the first 2 rounds into the final 4. Its vying against teams from Ohio, Utah and Vermont to win $500 for its athletic department and the title "America's Favorite High School Football Team." Voting in the final round begins tomorrow at 11 am and runs until 11 am on Friday. To vote go to http://contest.USATodayHSS.com.

Everyone relax! My athletic director will save the day with this mega influx of money.

The school board needs to explain why just under 100 ME students are children of ME teacher that do not live in the school district. These teachers do not live in the school district and do not pay ME school taxes. The school could raise almost a half million dollars by charging $5000 in tuition as is required of these students. 3 choices for these people, 1 charge tuition, 2 go to the school district you live in, 3 live in ME district. This is just one in a dozen ways the school board can save money.

I did not know this...no other school district allows this...why does the ME school board allow this if the district is broke?

They do have a 2 million dollar diving pool.

You people are just not seeing the big picture. It isn't cheap to jump into a pool and make a splash. We need to sacrifice if we are to have the home pool advantage . Think of the pride of those half dozen parents will feel when the judges flash 9.5 after Buffy flops a reverse double bubble butt gainer. There may even be a trophy banner hanging and everything. Your money is no object.

Last one in the pool has to pay for it!

Bravo to the board for hiring a social studies teacher with no administration experience. That worked out real well.

Maybe they should hire a math teacher that knows something about arithmetic .

Does anyone know how much the Athletic Director has spent in the past few years? Is it a case of an egomaniac spending absurd amounts of money while an inept Super and board just agree to every request?

Right now because of idiots like Cuomo and Matt Ryan we can't frack anywhere. PA has been fracking for 5 years and I don't see the world coming to an end there. Yes all the school districts could reap big financial rewards if they allowed fracking on school property. All the local governemnts could allow fracking under parks, golf courses, offices etc. Don't hold your breadth, NY state sucks with its Liberal govenrment that drives people away.

I can't make the meeting. Can someone ask about this? I'd like to know how a water boy can make a wage like that. And why is his pay or position not cut - when essential positions like janitors are being canned?

The Press has done a dismal job of covering this fiscal atrocity. Must be too many 0's in 4,000,000 for them to handle. They are more comftorable dealing with the $3,000 dollars missing in the Bingo PD.

Public education is a cornerstone of socialism. PSB is protecting their own interests.

When you know pretty much what a story will say or the angle they will play before you read it, its time to find you "news" elsewhere.

Someone please ask VanFossen and the board why they didn't follow any of the State's reccommendations two years ago to deal with this problem. That's right they met with the State to address this looming problem and neglected to follow any of their advice. I guess VanFossen and his vast knowledge of Social Studies had a better solution.
