The tree is an 80-year-old Norway Spruce and is 80 feet tall and 43 feet wide, according to Rockefeller Center.

The tree's arrival was a spectacle as always, with crowds gathering to watch the moment the tree was lifted into its home for the holiday season. There were also plenty of family-fun activities for holiday lovers to enjoy on the South Plaza from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Little ones had the opportunity to write letters to Santa, decorate their own ornaments, and even get their faces painted.

The tree lighting show is set to kick off at 7 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Nov. 29. You'll be able to watch NBC's "Christmas in Rockefeller Center" in a live broadcast on TV, on Peacock and wherever you stream NBC New York.

This year's show will be hosted by Kelly Clarkson. The Emmy and Grammy winner will pull double duty as a performer as well. She first performed at the special 20 years ago!

^^^Not for long. Idiot protesters will have trashed before the tree lighting ceremony begins. How much you want to bet the tree falls? They will tear it limb from limb. Who is going to stop them? Eric Adams?

I believe it hasn't happened before, why would it now?

If it were to happen now or in the near future, I doubt it will be via tree-huggers and the like, rather some religious zealots.

Up in Canada, their human rights people are trying to put the cabash on Christmas trees, saying they are symbols of colonialism blah blah blah, racist, religious, persecution, blah blah, blah blah blah..

They sound like the teacher in Charlie Brown.

With thousands of people expected to converge on Rockefeller Center for Wednesday evening's Christmas tree lighting ceremony, New York City police counterterrorism officials have issued a confidential warning that protests prompted by the Israel-Hamas war could disrupt the annual event.

The document stresses that demonstrators could use the Rockefeller tree lighting ceremony, which will be televised nationally, "as an opportunity to draw attention to their own causes."

Post Script - Reports indicate a small group of protesters were kept well away from the tree lighting ceremony by Santa's Blue helpers.
