Congratulations CV and UE.

When you attend the STAC cheerleading competetion you will notice THREE things.

*CV fans sit in the same spot and UE fans sit in the same spot.

*You will see a lot of red and orange

*when these two teams take the floor TO BEGIN the competetion the crowd is silent.

Its a showdown everytime. The sad part is only one team can win first place and Congratulations CV. And UE. it looks like they did it better this time.

FACT:

Part of winning a 1st place title is not only performing an exceptional physical routine but you also need to follow the rules. If you don't follow the rules your routine was not flawless. I actually viewed the scoring results. CV did have 337 points and if UE was able to display a flawless routine they would have wrapped up the competetion with 350. But at that point CV may have stuck all their stunts and performed an even better more exciting routine. So Congratulations to UE for performing an almost flawless routine but how about we give credit where credit is due, Chenango Valley rocked.

I was sitting across from the UE and CV fans, after the announcer announced the 2nd place finishers it took the UE cheerleaders a few seconds to realize IT WAS YOU. YOU WERE SECOND, stand up and accept the SILVER medal. At that moment the UE fans started clearing out, what kind of support is that? Are you showing the athletes that when THEY don't win, YOU just walk out. That's not very mannerly. Is 2nd place worth crying over? Probably NOT. But its a serious reality check. It was nice to watch CV receive the GOLD medal today.

So again, CONGRATULATIONS to CV for a 1st place finish and to UE for a tight follow-up. You finished 2nd!

Problem is, is that UE hates finishing 2nd--2nd is the 1st loser--thats why we excell and try to be 1st and practice so hard in every sport..but yes CV did a good job..give credit where it is due

first of all, UE cheerleaders don't have wide set 'vajayjays' grow up, seriously..it's called a DELETED..anyways. it's complete DELETED that UE varsity didn't get first bcz CV sucked..flat out. UE's raw score was 350 and if they didn't get DELETED deductions for their amazing tosses then they would've beat CV(who had a score of 337) by 13 points. CV realizes that they shouldn't have won. UE wasn't crying about getting second, they were crying bcz it was the seniors last STAC competition and they were robbed 2 seasons in a row, jus like JC was robbed. they were amazing and if the judges had any sense of cheerleading background, then they would've seen that. so all you DELETED CV fans, take notes and maybe someday you can dream about being half as good as some of the teams we saw today. (:

okay last time i checked the team with the higher score at the end of the tournament was the winner. CV won, get over it and be happy that you got 2nd place

WOW - I just read this entire post and it never ceases to amaze me how negative the comments can get.

First of all, remember the Fall when the two teams tied. There was an avalanche of UE posts saying UE won because they were just better (even though they tied).

Now CV wins and UE says they won because they scored higher before the deductions.

I wasn't there, but it seems to me the team with the highest score wins (except golf). Shoulda, Coulda, Woulda doesn't change the final score.

Congratulations to both teams for their outstanding effort.

I give credit to the UE cheerleaders for being good sports. They went right over to the Warriors and congratulated them on their win. U-E should be proud of how well they did. It is understandable for them to be upset over the deductions...dont bash them for that. It's one thing to get second, but to have first place and then lose it,and they just need time to accept that. They were just in shock.

Everyone did a great job at the competition. The Warriors did well and should enjoy their victory. No one should hang their heads low!

I agree with this person. I saw UE walk right over to congratulate them also. What I also saw surprised me. When the UE girls walked over the CV fans started beating on the glass and taunting them. The girls were just being good sports so CV needs to learn how to control their fans. CV should just enjoy their victory and be prepared for next years STAC beacuse I have a feeling UE will be out to get the title back, no ties or deductions.

what UE really shouldve said when they went over to congratulate them is, "congrats..enjoy it while it lasts!!" because it wont be very long! What everyone needs to understand and ACCEPT is that UE blows CV away every single year, the only time they dont win is when deductions are made. they are the true champions, even when they "lose" because they can hold their heads up high knowing that they will soon be on top again. they were amazing yesterday and NO ONE can argue that. CV had the same boring stuff, nothing that ever puts the crowd in awe. even read the paper, the CV girl even said it!.."We weren't really expecting first," CV's Jackie Freeman said...and how can you hold the fact that they were crying against them? ANYONE would do the same. when you KNOW you ARE the best, and your title is ROBBED from you, you would be that upset. it is not because they are "spoiled brats" it is because they have heart and pride in what they do. so in the fall, UE will take those 13 points that were taken from them and show CV that THEY CANT STOP THE REIGN. hate UE all you want, but everyone knows UE is "SIMPLY THE BEST"...check the trophy case!

Everyone needs to grow up. UE did NOT have "first place and lose it." There are a total of 130 possible point on the cheer rubric. 13 areas of 10 points each. Yes, at the end of thier performance they had more points that CV did on thier rubric. ALSO ON THE RUBRIC is an area that states - safety infractions - 10 points per infraction. Now, experienced cheer teams like these two teams KNOW what these infractions are. If you were watching during the competion, as soon as the UE preformance was over, the SAFTEY judges met in the corner of the mat section - that is when they make decisions as to what deductions might be made. Those infractions are there for a reason - to dissuade teams from doing things that could danger the teams. The UE team was not robbed - they did some thing they should not have - lots of things happen when the adrenalin of competition day is flowing. They sould not be blamed, but they surely need to admit they were not robbed.

Let's give all these girls a break and say they did thier best and the team with most points won. COngrats also to teh JC team which who had an outstanding performance!

What people should be complianing about - which is obviously the focus of this forum - is the "fans" and "parents" who were in line who stormed through the rope barricades to get in to get seats. There was a line to get into the Arena, and those in the front of the line who got there early had every right to be let in the door first - well some fans and "parents" felt they could not wait thier turns and knocked over the ropes and just ran in. These people should be ashamed of themselves. Also, the arena needs to implement their no saving seats policy - or give every person a piece of paper that they can put on ONE seat to save. That whole thing was ridiculous - all of that nastiness, and the poor sportsmanship on this board are BAD examples for our kids! GROW UP!

ok first of all people.. seriously some of you know jack shit about this topic and definately shouldnt be writting things about it... UE did amazing. and CV yes of course did good because they always use same exact stuff they always use.. just to diffrent music.. UE once again was jacked for another STAC Cheerleading Title.. The only reason why CV was awarded that gold, was because UE had recieved a 20 point safty deduction..FOR SOMETHING CV DID AS WELL.. the problem with UE's ruiteen was their basket tosses. They were told that it was legal to throw your head back in a toss as long as it says above your waist. and the music. yes granted the music wasnt something they could control. but the basket toss deduction?!?!?! are you kidding me?! there is a picture on pressconnects.com of 3 of CV's basket tosses that show one girls head not only thrown back... BUT PRETTY DAMN CLOSE TO BELOW HER WAIST..!

People ask girls why they dont cheer anymore. and those girls will always answer, "because it just isn't fun anymore". Judges always want a "cookie cutter" ruiteen. and CV will always live up to that. They play it safe. and im not saying by any means that their ruiteens are never good. because when i go to watch these competitions... i ALWAYS make sure i see not only UE.. but CV.. but when someone (like UE) tries to bring something new... Judges cant handle it and decide something is always wrong with that.. Personally, this competition is going down the drain.. and you will find that as time goes on, less teams will be showing up to this "STAC Cheerleading Competition" and going on to bigger and better competitions.

Honestly people, you can hate and hate on UE. just because face it. they are better.

I can tell by reading this topic that a lot of people have very strong opinions about the Competition. As someone who is not a parent.. but is a coach that was there.. This was a different competition than most of them are, a lot of schools came out and really impressed us this year. They should be proud of themselves, schools like JC and South Side, did a very good job. Even M-E did pretty good.. but no one can deny that U-E did blow everyone away. Sure they lost points.. they lost it for something that almost every school did as well. It was just more apparent for them.. when a girl goes up in a toss.. if she drops her head back below her body.. it is supposed to be a deduction, although last year they ruled this out and it was not supposed to be deducted anymore. Coaches were told this.. if they were told otherwise of course the U-E coaches would have adjusted this.. Its awful to have deductions when you work so hard and they did deserve that crown.

I'm not saying the safety judges should have taken it from anyone else either.. although they did.. more than just U-E got points deducted from this.. but if you look on press connects at the picture of CV doing pike tosses... the girl on the right should have had points deducted for her head dropping. If I were a safety judge it would be something i would deduct for. I was not a safety judge and therefore you have to just go with their ruling. I am amazed at how great U-E did and the reason those girls were so upset was because they worked harder than any school to get to where they are now and deserved that 1st place.. it was a let down that they didnt get it. Next year.. you can be sure they will.

I would have put the order for Varsity as:

1. Union Endicott

2. Johnson City

3. Chenango Valley

4. Susquehanna Valley

5. Maine Endwell

6. Horseheads

4. S-V always comes out with a unique routine and has so much energy.

5. M-E is clean and safe but performs well

6. Horseheads was very tight sharp and quick but lacked in stunts and facials.

the girl on the right...yeah CV....are you the REAL STAC champs?

Thats what i thought.

I will need to see a picture of UE's tosses. The flyer on the right of the picture is clearly above her waist. It maybe be close BUT she is still legal. Let me see a picture of UE's tosses, im not convinced.

As the mother of boys who are high school athletes, and so not terribly interested in cheerleading (except VERY casually) I just have one comment to make on this entire thread and it is in regard to this:

because they worked harder than any school to get to where they are now and deserved that 1st place..

What? Seriously? This is a comment by a coach????? My boys have played on winning teams, STAC and Sectional Championship teams and also on teams that got blown out of the water. It NEVER was about how "they worked harder than any school", that is just a ridiculous statement.

Was this a 'contest' about how hard the girls worked or about how well they did? In other sports (and I am being very generous calling cheerleading a sport, it is an activity - a physical activity - but an activity nonetheless) it is not about how many hours your team spends in the weight room, or running, or practicing, or whatever, it is about how well you PERFORM during the contest. Period.

I don't see SCC getting any cudos or winning games in football because they tried harder and worked harder. They lost every game - and nobody said THEY should have won because they worked so hard. Seriously, get the matching ribbons out of your eyes and get a grip on what a contest is - it is comments like this that give real women's sports a bad name. PUH-LEEZE.

you have no idea what you are talking about. cheerleaders work their hardest to PERFECT their routine. which is what UE's routine was, PERFECTION. the harder you work, the better you are. thats what she was trying to say i think. i personally know they work their asses off to get to the level that they are at. thats why they are continuously good year after year, and no one can compare to them in this area. and everyone hates them for it. but what do you think would happen if UE stopped going to stac? no one would show up. UE MAKES that competition and to try and say they didnt deserve to win is ludicris. they are not complaining because they are sore losers, they are complaining because they deserve what they EARNED.

you know what i dont think thats true at all!

if ue honestly thinks that no one will go to stac if they dont return

then dont go and lets see what happens. nobody ever

wants ue to win anyways because everybody HATES them. this just PROVES how

cocky they really are!

dont come back if you dont want to no one will care.

and ues routine wasnt perfect so stop saying that.
