Yes, you are correct.

People are realizing that there is no justification whatsoever for an 81% increase in water rates, just like landlords realized there was no justificiation for an 80% increase in their rtaxes.

It was all arbitrary gouging of residents by Mayor Matthew T. Ryan due to his waste, mismanagement and incompetence.

People clearly understand this.

Ryan is a laughing stock.

Why do you want to pay an 81% increase?

Agree with Ed Arkookyian, or you "want to pay an 81% increase". Those are your choices.

Please offer another choice then.

Please explain all the excuses offered by Matthew T. Ryan for the increase that still leave a $1,500,000 surplus every year.

Go ahead.....

Why 81% when 40% would still raise about $800,000 to $1,000,000 per year.

Explain.................

You have no answers. You have no solutions. You have no rationale.

All you can offer are personal attacks on Ed. People see right through it. They make you look pathetic and inept. They certainly don't dissuade him.

Referrring to yourself in the 3rd person again, Mr. Arkookyian? Such a person deserves no "explanations" from anyone.

Ed called a "city wide" meeting, claiming his participation would boost attendance. 10 people showed up.

He wrote a letter to the State Comptroller, copied to all local media, demanding an investigation. Nothing happened.

He did the same last year with the Attorney General. Nothing happened.

He told the Binghamton Press he was Bates Troy's "Manager for Compliance and Special Projects".

See the pattern of narcissism and megalomania here? Border Line Personality Disorder perhaps?

Seems like the County Exec is concerned enough to have her lawyers look into it.

"Ask the county executive that. Where has it been reported that she has attorneys looking at anything? "

It has not been reported that is still part of the problem. News outlets have spoken to her weeks ago, no reports.

I already asked her. Here's what she wrote:

From: Fiala, Barbara J [mailto:BFiala@co.broome.ny.us]

Sent: Wednesday, May 21, 2008 10:55 AM

Subject: RE: publishing comment?

I have asked our attorney’s to look into this for me and advise. As soon as I get the correct information I will let you know. bf

Subject: publishing comment?

Dear Mrs. Fiala,

Today, May 21, The Press & Sun-Bulletin once again failed to state what is really happening with the water payments Broome County is collect and sending to the City of Binghamton General Fund.

At some point I would like to make the fact that you are aware of this public. Have you met with Mayor Ryan? Do you have further info on this? Do you have a preferred timeframe for me mentioning this your comment about it?

Thx.

"The City was not the one that started this firestorm. Ask the county this question"

Another lie. The late payment issue was raised by Ryan and Abdelazim as a smoke screen to hide the real issue of their of 81% rate increase. They tried to use it as a justification, just like the $300,000 deficit that would be repaid in two months with the proposed increase and the "300%" increase in chemicals which really means an increae from $100,000 to $300,000 on a $6,000,000 budget. Again no reason to raise a $2,000,000 surplus per year.

"I unfortunately do not have access to a copy of the budget at this moment to give you that information - however, I would assume that it is a matter of an opening journal entry at the beginning of each new billing cycle which would have started with the December billing."

You are not very resourceful. The budget is available on-line 24/7. Here is the link. Find the line item:

http://www.cityofbinghamton.com/library/pa...ed%20Budget.pdf

So, again, if these late payments have always been resolved in this fashion, when did they become a justification for an 81% increase? If the Water Fund is being credited by the General Fund and the General Fund gets the payments from the County where is the big problem? The deliqunet water account holders are paying penalties and fees, they are the only ones with the problem.

Care to explain?

The only reason for an 81% increase is to cover Mayor Matthew T. Ryan's waste elsewhere. He will "draw down" expenses against the Water Department, like the $50,000 he charges for computer time. The Water Fund is Ryan's piggybank. That is why it is empty and he needs an extra $2,000,000 per year

Don't lie. About 25 to 30 people showed up including two TV stations. This thread has about 14,000 views. That's not bad. BTW, actually Garo Kachadourian caled the meeting.

He wrote a letter to the State Comptroller, copied to all local media, demanding an investigation. Nothing happened.

No true. It is being followed up. You might want to ask Cole Hickland in the Albany office about it. Albany is refering the matter to their Binghamton office. They said they wish they could do more auditing and were not sure when they last looked into Binghamton.

He did the same last year with the Attorney General. Nothing happened.

Are you sure?

He told the Binghamton Press he was Bates Troy's "Manager for Compliance and Special Projects".

He is. Call and ask them. This trade publication makes it pretty clear. http://www.not allowed.com/hlac/article.pdf

See the pattern of narcissism and megalomania here? Border Line Personality Disorder perhaps?

No.

Can you explain why you want to pay an 81% increase in the water rate? Can you explain why it is necessary? Easy questions, let us know.

and yes - we are certain nothng has been done by the attrorney general in regards to your vote recount request and voter fraud request and your investigations into citizen action and your request to investigate the mayor time and again. theAG's office thinks you are a crackpot - and he is right

Yeah, the AG is a good friend of Ryan's, you don't think he is aware of the arrests conviction, harassment reports? You think he has any respect for a bum like Ryan?

Why do you want to pay an 81% increase in water rates when 40% would still generate a $1,000,000 surplus per year.

The New York City Water Board voted on Friday morning to approve a 14.5 percent increase for water and sewer rates, the largest increase since 1992.

When the new rate is in place on July 1, according to the city’s Independent Budget Office, water rates will have risen a cumulative 77 percent since 2001, and double-digit increases are expected to keep coming for at least a few more years.

The writing's on the wall. Water is the next gold. We should be glad we're on a river.

Glad you posted this.

Read what it says.

77% increase in seven years. Ryan is increasing rate 81% in two years.

NYC's 14% increase is the largest since 1992. Ryan has already increased rates 24% in 15 months. 30% this year, 10 % increase next year.

Imagine if NYC rates its rates 81% in two years!!!! It would be national news. There would be riots.

One can say alot more actually. One could say you are obsessed about a city and the mayor of a city that you do not live in - pay taxes in work in - own property in - that is what one could easily say.
