Guest Guest
You took a poll? Or are you talking out of your ass as usual. Let me ask you a question. How many teachers do you think will be be losing their jobs just in NYS this year? Do you think that most of them would agree to work for less? mulligan
No one is jealous. We can't afford it anymore. Teachers and school administrators live in a fantasy world. They attend high school, then college, then work in a school. They do not understand how the world functions outside of school. The country is broke, the state is bankrupt, and local taxpayers can no longer pay for teachers and administrators luxury benefits. Wake up and smell the coffee for the love of pete...oh, I forgot that it's a snow day so go back to sleep, don't smell the coffee, and everyone else will go to work to support you. You have deep seeded anger issues which are caused by jeaulosy!!!!

Kinda a makes you wish you finished the 7th. grade doesn't it? But you're probably right, they should get rid of the teachers and administrators. Let's make all the kids just like their parents, to stupid to move out of a dying area and not smart enough to hold a decent job.

Instead of ridiculous and useless comments such as "your jealous", "you never finished 7th grade", "go back to McDonalds or Walmart", (they sound so immature - can you just picture these people on the playground - lol!!)why don't administrators and teachers take a hard look at what they have and realize that if they made some concessions - pay more for their benefits, and freeze raises while the economy gets back on their feet - I think there would be much less negativity directed towards you. When times are good, then benefits can get better for everyone. Why do teachers feel that they are so entitled to everything - sort of the reason this thread was started...why should they stay home on snow days when everyone else has to go to work??? What do you want teachers to do on snow days at school? Will it be okay with you if they use heat and electricity while they are there? Is it okay if the custodians plow the parking lot, shovel the walks and throw down salt? People want teachers to go in but they do not want it to cost anything for them to be there. They are all there cleaning and plowing the snow for the school to be ready for the next day...if you got your lazy butt out of bed and go to school to do some of your work you would see that!! They also do not turn down the heat and shut everything off for snow days - that is a another ridiculous statement!! They can't know that there will definately be a snowday, so they don't turn the heat down "just in case". Again - why don't teachers work on school days - union contracts that have made them very lazy!!
Guest Guest
Abolish public unions. They are parasites and serve no useful purpose whatsoever.

BuckedTooth
Now this is a solution. Melt the public unions like the snow. This song by Rush about somes it up: "There is unrest in the forest, There is trouble with the trees, For the maples want more sunlight And the oaks ignore their please. The trouble with the maples, (And they're quite convinced they're right) They say the oaks are just too lofty And they grab up all the light. But the oaks can't help their feelings If they like the way they're made. And they wonder why the maples Can't be happy in their shade. There is trouble in the forest, And the creatures all have fled, As the maples scream "Oppression!" And the oaks just shake their heads So the maples formed a union And demanded equal rights. "The oaks are just too greedy; We will make them give us light." Now there's no more oak oppression, For they passed a noble law, And the trees are all kept equal By hatchet, axe, and saw." The Trees Looks like we are heading there.
Guest Guest
Here is a perfect yet eloquent example of the Liberal Elite. A Chardonnay Socialist, An Ivy League chin puller looking down her nose at the working class. She is part of the system yet she is able to rise above it. Her superior intellect sprinkled with vanity and champagne has us awe struck and starry eyed. An east-coast limousine liberal with "a degree in the sciences". At a cocktail party to benefit the arts she speaks intellectuality on all subjects. Marxism, the sciences, the arts, the existence of God, the level of civil discourse in the media and dare I say, George Bush. I need to go. My emotions are welling up, the tears may short out my keyboard. This thread is so huge we need to review the greatest hits!
Guest Guest
Not true! The custodians go in, shovel, salt and leave. Let me tell you, most of the time the day shift custodians are already there when school is called off. They do help the Grounds department with some snow removal. And there is always something to do. And by the way on 1 or 2 hr. delays they are usually there before they call them too. Not teachers though. They are on delay too. Guest Truth Hurts
Teachers definitely deserve snow days off. They deserve to get salaries that are well above the average for the area they live in. They deserve more comprehensive health care coverage than private sector workers, and they deserve to contribute almost nothing towards the cost. They also deserve much better retirement packages. Most important, they deserve to work in an environment where below average or even poor performance is not a problem. It's only fair. After all, they already work almost 60% as many hours as a typical office or factory worker and 50% as much as a typical manager in the corporate world. And don't forget, Education is the easiest major in college and huge studies showed that major attracts the students with the lowest average SAT scores and high school grades.
