girlie-jig
Who can one contact to report mistreatment? We have tried the social worker, the doctor, and head nurse. We feel the need to report it to an outside state agency. Edited April 27 by girlie-jig Incomplete talk

Bingking
After reviewing the clerks website recently, there are some new filings pertaining to this rehabilitation center. I believe they’re changing hands or closing down.

ginger
The Broome County Department of Health for one. The NYS Office of Professions in Albany if you have specific names of staff and specific misconduct. It's best if you have things documented in writing. The Office of Professions has a lawyer on staff. SHE WORKS FOR YOU..THAT'S HER JOB. Also, you can consult with a police officer. Have you tried going to the units Ombudsman? Her or his name and phone number would be posted on the unit, maybe by the elevators where the PATIENT BILL OF RIGHTS is posted?
girlie-jig
Thank you to everyone who has responded with some good ideas. We will be filing a formal complaint in writing with the center and see what happens from there. We do have names of staff and a roommate who has also complained on our family member’s behalf. I forgot to mention, if you have a specific complaint about a doctor, you can go to the Department of Health web site and download a complaint form or call and they'll send you one in the mail. Complaints about doctors goes to the Department of Health. Complaints about nurses goes to the Board of Education, Office of Professions. Abuse, should always be reported to the police! Responsible_Adult_Female
If an abuse complaint is reported to staff at Bridgewater, they are required by law to report it to the Department of Health immediately and no later than 24 hours.
