So I doubled that to 1,600 to ROUGHLY cover both arrivals and departures. I then googled “how many people work at JFK Airport”. The answer was 35,000. So, maybe one employee for every 2-5 passengers......Not all that different. I've said for years, I'd like to see BGM, Ithaca, and Elmira merge into a regional airport out in Waverly or someplace like that, It wouldn't be a whole lot further than people drive now in many cases, but the combined volumes might make it more attractive for airlines to do business.
